Picatinny/Weaver Rails for a MKII

Trying to figure out what I need to do in order to get some weaver/picatinny rails on my Ruger MK II. Here's what I'm working with:



Now here as my options as far as I can tell, but there are some issues with what I'm seeing, so I'm not sure what to get...

Problem with this option is that when you look at my rail, and look at the screw placement on this rail, they're different. Three holes, but look how much rail comes before the single hole...way more than my current rail. I don't see how it would even be possible to attach that without covering up my rear sight.

This one makes more sense on the side with one screw hole, but now compare the other end to mine where the two holes are. Does that mean this one sticks out way over the barrel? I don't really want that...

Same problem as option two. Look how far the rail keeps going after the two holes.


So, can anyone offer some insight on how these attach? I really want to get a Burris Fastfire III for my ruger and I don't want to get the wrong thing. Thanks!

Unless you are planning to try and have a sight tunnel, you either want the Ruger rail or the Burris Fastfire rear sight replacement mount.

IMHO the sight tunnel arrangements make the optic sit too high.

You either hang over the barrel or lose the rear sight to have enough rail space to mount just about anything but the Fastfire style.

You can cut the rail so it doesn't hang over the barrel if you go with the Fastfire.

I would avoid the riser with the sight tunnels also, they really do place your optic too high.

I have a friend who just added the Ruger factory rail (option #3) to his pistol. It is designed to overhand the barrel to give you latitude in mounting your optic for balance and eye relief. If you'd like a rail that does not overhang the barrel, you'd have to get one that would require removing the rear sight

You can also cut the Ruger rail flush with the receiver... I didn't like the overhang!

You already have the Ruger Competition scope mount on your gun. All you need is the corresponding rings to fit your scope

The OP is wanting a Burris Fastfire red dot no rings will work. I'd suggest the Burris Ruger rear sight replacement Fastfire mount.
