Pick only 3 pistols

This is a toughie -- and I could come up with any number of mixes that I would find personally satisfying, but for now, I'll say:

1) S&W 63 4" .22LR (plinking, small game, inexpensive practice, can digest a staggering array of .22 rimfire ammo variants)

2) S&W 360PD .38/.357 snub (extremely light, concealable and comfortable for belt or big pocket carry; ability to take two cartridges enhances versatility)

3) S&W 65 3" .38/.357 (home defense, can CC in a pinch, indestructible for all practical intents, surprisingly accurate)

I am assuming that I also have rifles and shotguns for any other shooting needs or wants...

Ok, TODAY I'd choose:

1) 1911 with top ends or barrels for .22, 9mm, .38 Super, 9x23, .40, .357 Sig, .400 Corbon, 10mm, .45 acp and .460 Rowland.

2) GLOCK 35 with top ends or barrels to create a: 17, 22, 31, 34, 37 and a .22 conversion.

3) Smith and Wesson Model 29 w/ 6" barrel.

3 guns, 13 different calibers.

Best gun

I'd pick a Ruger GP-100 in .357 caliber and learn how to shoot it well. Doubt you'd need anything else. But in the spirit of the question...

My CZ-52 is about as nasty a handgun as you can find. Its scary. Anyone that owns one, knows what I mean. It will punch holes thru 1/2" steel plate at 30 yds like its not even there. When I have someone shoot it, then ask them later if they'd like to shoot it again, they usually decline.

My .40 cal Beretta Centurion is nice too but I'd still prefer my Ruger revolver when the chips are down.

Glock 19 9MM. social work. Takes G17 and G18 mags.
Glock 29 10MM; with spare .40 barrel and G20 magazines
Colt .45 auto series 70 national match with .22 conversion kit

I own all of these and more. :D

Hmmm, I only own a Glock 21 and a S&W Model 10 right now. For a third I'd consider going back with a Glock 19, they are just all-around nice handguns. But I've also been eye-balling a Browning Hi-Power and a Sig P220.

I like keeping my calibers to a minimum, but if I HAD to purchase a third handgun it'd probably be the Glock 19, I just miss it's "carry-ability".

If you could own only 3 pistols what would they be and why.
Glock 26 because it is just about the perfect concealed carry pistol.
Good capacity (10+1), good enough self defense caliber (9mm+P), very reliable and very rugged.

Ruger GP100 because I love the .357 magnum caliber from a 4" revolver.
It can be used for self defense or hunting or target shooting.
You can shoot powder-puff .38 special loads, or fire-breathing-dragon .357 magnum loads.
It's just a great caliber and a great revolver.

S&W M&P45c because it's a .45 caliber pistol that offers decent capacity (8+1) yet it is still light enough and compact enough to carry concealed.
And who doesn't like the .45ACP caliber? :)

Glock 21 and 30 for carrying and ammo magazine compatibility.
Sig 220 becuase I just love the way it feels in my hand.

All are 45 ACP so I only need stock the one size.

Smith and Wesson M&P 340 no lock (discreet CC)

Glock 19C. or Glock 23C with a 9mm conversion barrel.

Smith and Wesson 617 with a 4 inch barrel. Or 6 inch. Or 4. Or maybe an SP101 3". crap.

Ask me tomorrow, and I'll have a completely different answer.

SR-9C or Beretta 92-FS
SR-40C or Pro Series M&P .40
SR-1911 or Para P-12

I have all those pistols, so it's a moot question.:D

Only 3? That's cruel! Pelosi cruel. OBAMA CRUEL! Are you listening? CRUEL!

Well, anyway:

4" Ruger Security Six (the one they'll pry from my cold dead hand)
Ruger Redhawk .44 mag. (for hunting)
Ruger Mark II Target model .22rf (was gonna say Single Six, but the Mark II is more reliable and accurate)

Damn I'd hate to limit myself to just 3!

I dunno depends on the situation.

If it's a can only own three thing then,

Browning Buckmark for varmints and .22 plinking
Glock 26 for CCW
Kimber Gold Combat for house defense pistol.

If it's an end of days type of bug-out I'd forget about the .22 and go with another center-fire.

Either
XD40 Service in an urban setting
Glock 20 if I'm heading for the back country.
Might also go with my Ruger SP101 .357 magnum instead of the G26 if it's a head for the hills scenario.

Now if it were 3 to carry on my person at all times.

Kel-Tec P11 deep cover
Glock 26 BUG
XD40 on the hip

1. Springfield 1911 45 ACP 3 1/2" shorty with 8 round extended clips
2. 22 conversion Kimper with a 1011A1 Frame with two ten shot mags
3. 45 ACP Carbine barrel that uses the 1911A1 Frame with three 10 shot mags

In lue of these one short 12Ga Shotgun Pump.

Commander 1911 with a 22 conversion kit
Glock 19 with a 22 conversion kit
Sig Sauer P226 with a ... You know....

Ruger MkII Target model...it will put food on the table if needed
Ruger SBH 7 1/2" .....it will also put alotta food on the table
Beretta 92....it goes bang every time and is more accurate than my Glocks

1 my Blackhawk, which is accurate, indestructible, and can digest an amazing variety of different ammunition, from .38 target wadcutters to heavy magnums.

2 A GI-issue style 1911, just because

3 My tuned Ruger Mark-III, as it's the most fun to shoot.
