with heavy hunting loads in the 29,s, i call the S&W large grips, PAINER grips. eastbank.

IMG_0299.JPG The original target grips made for the early K and N frame revolvers in the mid 50s and were known as Coke bottle grips due the shape of the palm swell. They are beautiful hand checkered stocks and are highly collectible currently fetching $400 to $500 for fine examples. They were discontinued in the late 60s. They were known to be far more comfortable and hand fitting than the later "meat grinder" target stocks.

Nice snag!

I'm a Pachmayr guy for S&W revolvers, too. Not the best looking, but they feel good in my hand when firing the guns.

I am happiest with the Diamond Pro on my 629, and I have small hands that need to be filled up with some palm swell to avoid punishment.

I have another 629-1 with original grips, but it's like hanging onto a tree.
