Yesterday i brought home an M38 Swedish Mauser made by Husqvarna, dated 1942. Other than a few dings and scratches on the stock it is in excellent contition, the bore looks great and i cant wait to get her out to the range.

I am, however, thinking about upgrading the stock sights... but i dont want to do any drilling/tapping or make any permanent modifications to such a beautiful old rifle.

It seems like the best option would be the Mojo sights? Ive done some searching and people generally seemed to be pleased with the rear Mojo but are split on whether they like the front aperture Snap Sight. Does anyone here have any experience with these? Are there any other options i should be looking at?

Thanks in advance.

Interesting. I didnt know that such a mount existed.

With it being mounted that far forward i would need a long eye relief scope, correct? Any recommendations for what type of scope to use if i went that route? I really dont know very much about scopes, I have stuck with iron sights on most of my other rifles.

I use a Simmons Prohunter 2x pistol scope. Leupold makes a purpose built 2.5x scout scope. Also, various dot and prismatic sights can be used.

Basically, anything that will give you 9-12 inches of eye relief.

make sure you get some feedback on the mojos; I hear they are the best on the mausers, but I am not going to say for sure, I don't know. I bought mojo's for my ak's, along with hi vis front sites, in dayglo orange.
the rears are fast acquisition no doubt, but are NOT MORE accurate, than the stock sights, which are slower, but then does that matter to you?

the best upgrade would be finding a swede micrometer rear sight on gunbroker or ebay.
i don't see the mojo rear sight as an upgrade on a swede but it may just be personal preferance because i don't like forward mounted ring sights.

I have used MO JO on several rifles, a couple with as you call it snap sight or the double aperature and find it quite accurate. The front aperature is especially good on a round target as you center the target in front aperature while looking through the rear aperature. This is a common configuration for precision iron sight target shooting.

Can that be mounted without any drilling?

Well, they were mounted on the receiver bridge with two tapped holes (yes - drilling) but I guess it could be possible to mount one with an epoxy. It'd be hard to square up, and I wouldn't be able to trust it.

Mo Jo will be, I am fairly sure, the only option without any permanent modifications, ie, drilling to the gun.

I love my Mojo, but I'm selling it if you are interested. I have my VZ24 up for sale right now on gunbroker. (lovesbeer99) So I don't need the mojo anymore. I just didn't post it yet cause I'm waiting to sell the gun. If it doesn't sell, I might remount it and keep it. I'm just keeping my options open.

Anyway the MOJO is a superior sight to the stock sights. You can adjust for elevation and windage, and requires no drilling or tapping or anything. Just replace the rear sight with the MOJO. It works great.

Let me know if your interested. I'd sell it at a discount since it's used.

actually i was talking about the m/55 rear sight that replaces the standard rear sight leaf not the pram or soderin receiver sights.
