I decided I didn't want to wait till saturday to pick up my handgun, so I took off some work and Drove to Charlotte and picked up my Browning Hi Power.
First of all, it is a "pretty gun", it has one of the best stock grain and checkering I have seen in a non-custom handgun. It is the standard edition with 10 round clips and fixed sights. I love it as it fits like a glove to my hand. Also picked up a cleaning kit and some Federal American Eagle FMJ ammo. Then I found out that there was a indoor shooting range on my way back home, so I had to test fire my new tool.
The range was nice, good manager who helped me make sure I was doing it correctly, watched the safety video, and so on. Bought some more Federal American Eagal FMJ then it was range time.
Took me a few mins to realize that the Browning is not a Delicate thing, and it does not mind a little effort being used on it. loaded up a magazine and went to work.
First of all, the recoil is surprisingly nice. The first three shots I shot with my left (weak) hand supporting the right hand, then the hammer impaled my thumb for me being a idiot. also i noted that it is very easy for me (I am 5'10-5'11 and about 280) to shoot with one hand. very easy to take in any recoil and re aim to shoot again.
As for accuracy, It is more accurate then I am. I have not shot a handgun in 4 years, and even then it was only 10 rounds, so I am rather green at shooting handguns. I Put the target at 21 feet and had some good effect with it. I went the first fifty rounds to get used to the handgun and to help break it in, then got out a new fresh target and the next box of fifty to get to see what I and the gun was made of.
happy to say that I can hit a man sized target in the body 97.5 percent of the time. I miss aimed one of the body shots and missed. (well graze wound) blah! Though I did hit a 1 inch bullseye at 21 feet too.
also I found that even when I quickly fire (as in one second or less by my estimate) as if someone was charging at me I am pleasantly surprised to see a nice, uniform pattern to my shots. (each shot is about one inch up and one over) which means my gun is shooting better then I am! )
I Aimed 10 at the head, and scored 90 percent in the silhouette, though only 3 in the smallish circle for a good shot. the rest where more in the Jaw area .
I love the pull on the trigger, enough to be easy, but not a hair trigger.
Anyways, VERY happy with my purchase, put 100 rounds though it without one missfeed or other issue, it worked very well, now I need to shoot better, but at least I can afford to shoot 9mm
I know, I am supposed to take photos, but I am going to have to borrow a digital camera, so it will be tomorrow.
PS, people warned me about hammer bite, and on shot ~75 or so it gave me a little love nip to its new owner.
