I decided I didn't want to wait till saturday to pick up my handgun, so I took off some work and Drove to Charlotte and picked up my Browning Hi Power.

First of all, it is a "pretty gun", it has one of the best stock grain and checkering I have seen in a non-custom handgun. It is the standard edition with 10 round clips and fixed sights. I love it as it fits like a glove to my hand. Also picked up a cleaning kit and some Federal American Eagle FMJ ammo. Then I found out that there was a indoor shooting range on my way back home, so I had to test fire my new tool.

The range was nice, good manager who helped me make sure I was doing it correctly, watched the safety video, and so on. Bought some more Federal American Eagal FMJ then it was range time.

Took me a few mins to realize that the Browning is not a Delicate thing, and it does not mind a little effort being used on it. loaded up a magazine and went to work.

First of all, the recoil is surprisingly nice. The first three shots I shot with my left (weak) hand supporting the right hand, then the hammer impaled my thumb for me being a idiot. also i noted that it is very easy for me (I am 5'10-5'11 and about 280) to shoot with one hand. very easy to take in any recoil and re aim to shoot again.

As for accuracy, It is more accurate then I am. :uhoh: I have not shot a handgun in 4 years, and even then it was only 10 rounds, so I am rather green at shooting handguns. I Put the target at 21 feet and had some good effect with it. I went the first fifty rounds to get used to the handgun and to help break it in, then got out a new fresh target and the next box of fifty to get to see what I and the gun was made of.

happy to say that I can hit a man sized target in the body 97.5 percent of the time. I miss aimed one of the body shots and missed. (well graze wound) blah! Though I did hit a 1 inch bullseye at 21 feet too.

also I found that even when I quickly fire (as in one second or less by my estimate) as if someone was charging at me I am pleasantly surprised to see a nice, uniform pattern to my shots. (each shot is about one inch up and one over) which means my gun is shooting better then I am! ;))

I Aimed 10 at the head, and scored 90 percent in the silhouette, though only 3 in the smallish circle for a good shot. the rest where more in the Jaw area :uhoh: .

I love the pull on the trigger, enough to be easy, but not a hair trigger.

Anyways, VERY happy with my purchase, put 100 rounds though it without one missfeed or other issue, it worked very well, now I need to shoot better, but at least I can afford to shoot 9mm :D

I know, I am supposed to take photos, but I am going to have to borrow a digital camera, so it will be tomorrow. ;)

PS, people warned me about hammer bite, and on shot ~75 or so it gave me a little love nip to its new owner. :neener:

Sounds like you are well on your way. What are you getting next? Everbody needs a 1911 you know.

All in good time, I think I will start looking at handguns after I get another Mosin and another 6.5 x 55.

Though a AR-15 might be next...

Ok folks, here is the Hi Power Porn that you been waiting for

Sorry these are not the world's greatest photos, I had to shoot them indoors as it is pouring down rain....

115 grain American Eagle FMJ at 21 feet, one handed. (and only bullets 60-110 that I have shot from a handgun)

Here is the two older cousins, a Czech-Swedish supermodel (CZ 550 in 6.5 Swede) and a Russian Hungarian Who spent too much time with bubba...) (M44 that had a scope rings mounted on it)

nice gun man! Not too shabby shooting either. it looks like my targets when using my PA-63.

Well there only room to improve, as I am still very green when it comes to handguns. only have shot 110 rounds though handguns.

Congrats on your Browning purchase. Which store in charlotte did you get it from Hyatt's?

Yep, got it from Hyatt's, nice place :)

if anything else, they have great selection.

I picked up that CZ as well from Hyatt, and they are my "Go to" place to buy guns. After all I can come back 3 weeks later and they say "Ready to pay for that gun you put on layaway?"

From a store that has most likely 500 shoppers a day, that is service...

Nice Hi-Power. I carry my Hi-Power regularly; are you planning on using it as a carry weapon?

Larry always told me hello when I stopped in no matter how long it had been between visits.....

Indeed, when I bought my CZ I looked over a CZ and then told the salesman that I would have to think about it. The next day I was waiting for that salesman to finish helping someone to buy the CZ, and Larry came up to me, and asked if I was here to get the CZ. Now mind you, I didn't even talk to him and was only there for 30-45 mins.

I normally buy my ammo at midway, and some of there guns are too expensive but It is a great place to shop.

Yeah that's a critical element of learning a new weapon platform, that everyone goes through.

Unless they are ham-handed finish-monsters!
