After a ten day wait, I now have my M44.
Made in Russia, in 1946. The bore is in great shape, finish on rifle and stock are also in great shape. It doesn't look like it was carried with any regularity. All numbers match. It has a Y with a circle around it, which I think is the factory marking. Can anyone tell me where this was made? Also, how do I get the cleaning rod out? It seems to be pretty well stuck.
EDIT: Nevermind, seems that the circle-Y is the proof mark. I'll look at the factory mark tomorrow. Pictures eventually.
Oh, and when I picked it up, I saw a 91/30 on the rack, for $79.99. Made in 1929, good bore, stock is a bit rough, octagonal reciever. If it's still there tomorrow, I'm grabbing it.

For your M44, an arrow inside a triangle means Izhevsk arsenal and an arrow inside a five-pointed star means Tula arsenal. Don't forget to double up on the hearing protection when you shoot it :D .

That 1929 dated M91/30 sounds kinda neat. Good luck!
