Dropped it off (after failed attempt at installing Volquartsen hammer and bushing to delete mag safety) with Tom's Custom Coatings in Blanchester, Ohio. It was bone stock and looked like this. 20210419_110946.jpg
Now it sports Volquartsen Accurizing kit (hammer, bushing, springs, adjustable trigger, etc...) and a Tactical Solutions Pac-Lite upper. It now looks like this. 20210826_170221.jpg
Yeah, it's purple. Sorry @LoonWulf , pink was briefly considered but ultimately rejected.
Better grips on the way, but until then I had to fill in the red on the factory grips.
Mama's thrilled too, BTW.

Personally I like purple better than pink.... But generally I go purple and silver, as opposed to purple and black;)
I'd have preferred silver with purple but the black is growing on me. Since all the controls were already black it saved me about $75 on the Cerakote job.

Sweet looking 22! Been looking at the MKIVs and Buckmarks lately.

Thanks! I didn't plan to do anything with the looks of it since it shot great already. Just wanted the upgraded internals...but I'm stuck with it now. Or rather stuck with the woman that claims it as hers, so I can't really get rid of either. Figured I might as well get it prettied up for her.
It's definitely a good looking pistol, personal druthers aside I would "shoot the snot" out of that thing.
Hopefully she'll shoot it a lot, but if she don't I will.
Got a vehicle situation to take care of, then I'll be suppressor shopping for it. Well, paying and waiting anyway.

My next one will be a MkIV. After handling one the shop owner built for himself, I'm sold on the less difficult break down. I've had bunches of .22 handguns, and have liked a lot of them but never seem to keep them.
Hopefully a range report is coming soon. The indoor range I've gone to in the past must have closed or changed their hours.

Since I plan on gutting it and tricking it out, doesn’t really matter which one I get. LOL. Always wanted a built up 22lr.

Around here, I'd say Tom is the guy to talk to. He had more ideas for mine that were really intriguing, but I stopped short of full custom.
You could just start off with the Volquartsen lower, get the upper, bolt, etc and just build from scratch. Then you're not buying a gun and stripping it.
He has one or 2 he did that way.

I like it!

Strangely enough somehow the black and purple go together! That TacSol Pac-Lite upper is the cat's pajamas! I have seen them at various gun shows over the years and they all appear to be high quality, well designed and built, uppers.

They also use to make the 2211, a .22 conversion for the 1911. Again a very high quality and a well made rimfire conversion kit.

I may very well check into the 22 conversion kit for 1911 if there's any available. I'd tossed it around in the past, but Kimber or Colt were the only ones I'd come across. Coulda bought 3 more of these Rugers for the price of the Colt kit.

Nicely done . You..errr…she’ll love it once she gets a chance to stretch its legs. Let us know how she does with it when you get out :).

I put some Ruger-branded wide-thumbrest grips on a Mk II and a set from JA Ceiner with a smaller thumbrest on a Mk IV. These are an option that IMHO really helps the shooter (in my case right handed) compared to the thinner factory panels.

Again, that’s a great looking Ruger ;).

Stay safe.

Mmhmm...I do like the looks of those grips @Riomouse911

I have the G-10 Piranha grips from Hogue on about every handgun I own. I do like the aggressive, grippy grips typically. I'd had my eye on a set of them in black/gray but haven't gotten them in yet.

Put about 200 rounds through it today.
It choked a few times on Federal Auto Match early on. Functioned perfectly on Winchester HV bulk stuff, then started running the Auto Match consistently. Everything is new, so maybe a little tight still. Its pure fun to shoot, but I don't know that it's any more or less accurate than the factory barrel was.
Never thought I'd ever say such a thing about a "for fun only" gun, but the trigger might be too light.

Rimfire Center has lists of threads that say the Federal Auto Match chokes in a pistol. So don’t blame the pistol. Really surprised that the WW ran good! I never had luck with either in a pistol.

Yeah, I have a bunch of that Auto Match stuff because I've got a couple rifles that shoot any kind of Federal really well. The WW stuff, not so much. Weird part is the factory barrel on the Ruger shot Winchester Wildcats really well. Which is the first gun I've ever seen that did.

My MKIII is a slabside competition model. I prefer the original finishes, but to each his own. View attachment 1021688
Me too, but I didn't like the pitted rust spots this thing had. So it was gonna have to be stripped and re-finished anyway. Made it Mama's favorite color, since she's not nostalgic about gun finishes.

Just picked up a Ruger Mk III myself. MK III Hunter. The internals had been updated with Volquartsen, fire sights had been added. I thought I paid a little too much but very sweet shooting and the trigger is light. The chamber indicator was replaced as well.

Had a Mk III hunter blued that I sold a while back, really like the stainless!
