I just bought a used HK USP .40 full size. The guy said it has just under 1000 round through it. But its hard to say if you can believe that. Please post pics of your gun wear and how many rounds you have shot threw it so i can compare. Ill post my pics tomorrow. Thanks

Particularly the barrel wear. I dont see much wear other than that, but if your gun show wear in other spots id like to see that as well.

1000 rounds is hardly even broken in for an HK USP. If there's any sort of wear on the gun, it's bound to be on the mating surfaces where the slide rides on the receiver, and on the outside top of the chamber where the slide moves when the gun is cycling.

Depending on what sort of shooter the previous owner was, you might see a very slight amount of holster wear on the outside edges of the slide.

Absolutely none of these things are something to worry about. Most handguns nowadays will go tens of thousands of rounds before you need to start worrying about replacing parts.

Top of the chamber is the only place I ever saw any wear on the USP .40 I used to own, and it was built I believe in '96. It wasn't really wear, just a different color and texture on the surface. Gun'll last you forever, get some replacement spring kits in case you ever need them (you most likely won't) and call it good.

I owned a late 90's USP compact. There was minimal barrel wear. I would guess maybe 500 rounds, but the gun had clearly been carried a lot. My point is, its hard to tell. There will be some tell tale barrel wear, but HKs aren't as quick to show it as, say, a SIG. There are also a lot of police trade in USP .40s. They also tend to have a lot of cosmetic wear, but not been shot much. Those USPs are good for a bunch of rounds though without any parts being changed, even the recoil springs. Probably more than any other production gun, they require the least maintenance.

Outwardly my two USPs show virtually no wear after several thousand rounds through each. Inside, the slide shows some wear opposite the ejection port and on the underside where the barrel and slide mate together. The barrel shows a small amount of wear on the top and side of the barrel hood, emphasis on small.

I was going to take a picture for you, but my camera's dead. It is basically just what the others have said though. The only outward wear mine has is the top of the barrel hood, and then the obvious places (breech face, etc).

I ignore people when they tell me how many rounds a gun has through it. It all boils down to the wear points and what they look like. If you can't fire the gun there's nothing else to go on. I just bought the same gun, USP .40, used. Shows some holster wear, insides look good. The amount of use almost any gun would need to have endured to literally "wear out" is not something any normal civilian would ever be able to subject it to.

Some people don't lube their guns. Others lube alot. Therefore the number of rounds means nothing.

Charged up the camera.

Bore. Bright and shiny.

Muzzle. No signs of wear. I don't carry this pistol though, so I imagine you might see some finish wear here, though I imagine it would be slight.

Feed ramp. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Underside of the slide. There is finish wear where surfaces ordinarily rub together during normal firing sequence.

Breech face. Normal wear here.

Guide rod. A little finish wear.

USP's trademark barrel hood wear.

Not much wear in any regards on this pistol, other than the black being rubbed off on mating surfaces. I've forgotten the round count, but it's enough that I can say this pistol hasn't worn nearly as much as some others that have seen about the same amount of use. I do lube my guns pretty heavily though, and clean them very frequently, I imagine that probably mitigates wear to some extent.
