Anyone wanna show off pics of their home built/assembled firearms?
Here's my Ex Century CETME. Replaced reciever with a JLD, stock set is US made by Top Notch Parts Inc, G-3 front and rear sights, G-3 trigger housing with Century internals, XM-177 5.5" flash hider threaded and welded on an 11.5" CETME barrel. I shortened the cocking tube assy, bolt carrier assy, and built a telescopic recoil spring guide rod using .235" drill rod. Blasted and painted with Gun-Kote. Shoots great, lots of muzzle flash:) Not designed for accuracy, though coming out of the 11.5" bbl, it wasn't as bad as I would have thought.

Nice work! I have built 2 L1A1's, and 5 AR15's. But, I have never gone to as much length as you did. You must be an artist with a hack saw and Dremmel tool!:D Did you use much JB weld?:D :D

Seroiusly, it IS NICE! I was a little taken back by the short barrel though. I am sure you are loosing some ammount of velocity, but how is the accuraacy? Hand loads at the bottom of the chart may make that a dandy rifle, in accuracy, velocity, and recoil. Add some 30 round mags and you could do some serious room clearing! Nice work!

Thanks for the compliments! Off hand at approx. 25 yards, I kept 10 of 'em in about a 4 1/2" group. It does shoot a little to the right though, enough to be compensated by the rear sight without looking too obvious. I know that's not great, but my intention with this weapon is to eventually register it as an NFA SBR, and cut it back with just enough room to add a flash hider at the front sight triple frame. This was the first time I ever assembled a firearm using a TIG welder! I plan to take it back to the range tomorrow and spend some time getting tighter groups with a rest. I'll update then!

Ok guys, it's been almost 12 hours and still NO pics! Am I to believe I'm the only one on here that:
A) Assembled a functional firearm from a parts kit?
B) Has a digital camera also?
C) Still has said weapon?
Come on, lets see 'em:cool:

I'd photograph my southpaw AR, but it's in Nevada where it doesn't have to be registered. :(

Not much I have that isn't worked over....

Everything else just has polishing and trigger work, etc....

home made barrel out of a old 22 barrel i had laying around. chopped down with a hacksaw and turned on a lathe. had to cut the threads to screw it into the reciever. getting the spacing right was a pain but i did it. it uses the rifle barrels sight and getting it in with that on top was tricky but it works great.

Nice pics gents! Keep 'em comin'! BTW, @ 50m a 3.5" group I believe is the best I'm gonna get out of an 11.5" bbl, four shots, the flyer made it 5.75".
At 15 to 25m she's hell on wheels though;)

Ill play...

Its a Romy G kit built on NodakSpud Receiver.

Ill probably refinish it (again), but ill play some first.

Next will be either a ak UF, AK pistol, AR15 (but the options are so confusing!), or a Cetme (I want a .308 Battle rifle)

What is involved in building a Cetme?? I hear its difficult and requires welding.

Jesse

It's not really difficult, but buy the AGI DVD (#315 Brownells p. 226 cat. 58)Use caution when cutting the reciever remains (RIP) from the trunnion, rear sight base, and cocking tube. New tubes are available for the HK's, but I haven't seen any for the CETME. The JLD reciever I used had some issues. The rear sight base was welded slightly off-center, by them. They make one w/out base, which would obviously be better for the CETME anyway! The barrel pin holes are in a different location for the CETME as compared with the HK, so you'll have to get creative. I slotted mine, but then, I used a wide MP-5 handguard which covers them anyway. I'd steer away from any Century reciever, though I haven't seen their newer cast stainless one. I do weld-and know that welding stainless to mild steel (as in trunnion and cocking tube) can be a pain. Welding cast anything is nearly impossible. Combine them and.............?
Welding should be done with a TIG, but if you were really good at MIG you could do it with some grinding. I found one source for the complete CETME parts kits, but lost the link, anyone have any ideas?

BTW, some very nic pics here guys!

If you can ignore the Benelli M1Super90, then pictured are the Aussie L1A1 on an Entre'prise Type 3 Inch reciever; my CAR15 that is all DPMS; the Mid Length CAR HB w' an Ace stock, DPMS lower, and Nikkon 1.5x4.5 Turkey scope; and my 20" AR15A3 on a Stag Lower with a Wilson HB cut down to Govt profile. Another CAR15 on a Rock River reciever and an AR15A2 HB on a Stag lower are not pictured.

Quite an arsenal PAC 762. Have you read the BATF regs on Potato guns? Rather entertaining. But then, if there is a rule about it, someones done it.;)

Thanks sigfan.... I haven't read the official regs. My understanding is that they are perfectly legal as long as you use potatos and hairspray. I posted the pic 'cause it was the only one I could find with my M4 in it.... was there something illegal about the potato gun???

They actually have a page on their website. I can't remember to the "T", but if you use one as a weapon, it carries the same penalties as if you used an M-203. Hooah.

I will look harder, but heres one exerpt:
FAQ page:
(B17) How do I obtain a classification from ATF for my "potato gun?" [Back]

Any person desiring a classification of a “potato gun,” “spud gun” or similar device must submit a written request (not e-mail) to the Director and include a complete and accurate description of the device, the name and address of the manufacturer or importer, the purpose for which it is intended, and such photographs, diagrams, or drawings as may be necessary to make a classification. A final determination may require physical examination of the device. Such requests for classification should be submitted to: Bureau of ATF, Firearms Technology Branch.

You had me scared for a second. I am usuually very anal about making sure I am 100% legal, but I admit I became a little lax when it came to potato guns and never really considered that it might be illegal. I just did a quick search and there does not appear to be a barrel length regulation on them, so I believe I'm OK with my "spud pistol".
