Here is the knife that I made for my friend as a house warming gift. He collects knives and I thought that he would enjoy this.

The blade is Damascus and was made by Brad Vice from Alabama Damascus Steel. (http://www.alabamadamascussteel.com/servlet/StoreFront). Brad is great to work with and I highly recommend him if you need Damascus steel for anything.

The handle is maple lace burl that I made from a block 100% by hand- no machines were used at all. This stuff is very beautiful but was a real pain in the butt to work with. It is very hard.

Another of the handle

I made it larger and dimpled on one side to fit better in the hand.

A fine looking knife. You *did* miss my birthday. You know that, don't you?

PM me for contact info.

How is the maple attached?

I don't see any rivets, so is it epoxied to the blade tang?

Yup

How is the maple attached

Yes, it is epoxied on. this was my first knife build, and seeing how this would be mainly a display knife, and not really used, I felt that epoxy would be the best way to go. My wood working friend assured me that the wood would break apart before the handle would come off, so I thought that it would be OK.

Very nice! Is there any particular reason that you chose the "Roman-Nose" styled point for this knife? I have it on many of my own, but it's usually only after it's been broken :D

honestly, I thought that it was broken when I first looked at it. Brad said that he grinds this style of blade that way because the Damascus can be weak at the tip, so he grinds them this way to prevents broken tips.
