Thanks so much. A pilgrimage to Friendship is one of those things that I have wanted to do for years. Work and kids kept getting in the way. I am hoping for next year's spring shoot.

Hi Phil
I though you weren't getting there untill today but you got a picture of me and Dee at the jockey lot.
We left there this morrning and will be here outside of Chicago for 2 days then going to Westfield Mass. then Haverhill Mass. then back to SC the 24th.

Thanks for the pics. Friendship has been on my bucket list for years. Nice picture of Mike Beathe and his 'store'. I've got a couple of his knives that he made for me back in the 90s when we were Rendezvouzers. Cowboy Action Shooting takes up al my time these days. I hadn't seen Mike in about 15 years when I ran into him at Winter Range in Phoenix this past February

Finally got away from the house and made it today Friday. Where did all of the vendors go?
I was talking to one of the vendors who has been there many years and he was complaining that although the booth contract prohibits it the Assoc. is being lax about letting vendors cut out early. The vendor I was talking to "Kenockee Tradin Post said if you want to shop and stock up you better be there before Tuesday. The vendors start to melt away after that.

Yes they do cut out early. We have been shooting all week, so have not been
Doing any picture taking. Did buy 1,000 454 balls for 60.00. Finished shooting
Yesterday. Today is Sat. Morning . Shot 5 matches yesterday. I am very tired.
So far , I have first in the "As Issue" revolver Championship . First in the 25
And first in the 50 yd revolver. The Euroarms Remington is smoking.!!
Also Ist in the Repical Revolver match. !! Today is the last day of shooting.
Hope nobody comes in today and wipes me out. Oh we'll I will have lots of
Second places. Wife has first in the 25 yd women's, first in the overall women's
Championship , first in the 50 yd 25 shot men's match. Hope all this holds up.
Will know tonight. Awards tomorrow, then the long 10 hr drive home. Weather
Has been GREAT!! Upper 70's. Oh I had a Hege German made Remington in
My hand. That's the one that cost 1700.00 Will post pictures when we get
Back home. Having a great time, just tired. Remember I am 70. We stay in
A hotel in Vevay Indiana which is about 20 miles south of Friendship right on

Interesting to note this picture;
Up here in Canada a range would NEVER be given operating permission with the houses shown in the background being that close and not bermed in very high up to avoid any stray shots off that way. In fact I can say that the range, berms or no, would simply not be approved at all.
It impresses me that there's that level of understanding on the civic authourities and that the shooters are trusted and work towards proper control to avoid this becoming an issue.
The whole event with the wide range of associated events and fair like atmosphere makes me think that I need to load up the bike or the Roma Racer and make a pilgramage to the Friendship event some time before I leave this moral plane.

Those houses are on the main N/S road into town. The road makes a sweeping turn to the east at the steak sandwiches. The range is in the elbow.
Friendship is a wonderful place to spend some time.

Some day I will make the trip out there. It looks exactly like the kind of thing i would enjoy. I am especially intrigued by the watermelon spitting contest. You guys must be pretty big to be able to spit entire watermelons.
