Have an old pieper single shot 22 bolt action, probably one of the ones sold through sears in the 20s and 30s. Rifle is is good shape other than the forward portion of the firing pin is broken. I have the tools and steel to mill a new one but need advice on how to remove the cocking piece safely.
It looks like i would have to press out the alingment lug to free the second spring but unwilling to try without some experienced opinions.
