I stocked up also, when you could still get them. Of course no matter how many one stocks up on, you wish that you had got more. !!! The CCI's seem to fit most of the aftermarket cones well. It's the factory cones that tend to be small and require the Remington caps. ? That has been my experience. Not too long ago I had to reduce the diameter of some cones, but I don't remember if they were Slix-shots, or Trescos or what. Right now I have the stainless cones from TOW on everything, and they fit perfectly. Having said all that, I have the factory cones back on the 1862, and they are a perfect fit cap-wise.
It's them dang revolvers that eat up all the caps and powder! I'm down to my last pound of pistol powder, but the shelf is still full of 2fg, 1fg, and 1.5fg. As I came into a large amount of musket caps, for free, (!!!!!) I've switched all my percussion rifles over to musket cones, and of course the "Zouaves" and the 1861 are already that flavor. If I can slow down on the pistol shooting, my cap supply should hold out pretty good. I would of course buy more #11's if I came across some.
