Pietta, Uberti, or Ruger

I voted Ruger. After looking at everything out there short of a genuine Colt the Rugers looked to me to be the most solid & so far I’ve had nothing but enjoyment with them. Yes, they cost more than the imports but if I’m only going to have one I want the best I can afford.

Beautiful Old Army. Mine’s similar, but has the longer loading lever. It looks like you got one of the limited run Talos from, I think, 2017.

When I was looking for a single action in 45 colt the LGS tried really hard to sell me a Uberti that they had on the used rack. I had it in my brain I wanted a Ruger Blackhawk at the time and passed. I wish now I would have bought the Uberti. I would have still been able to get the Ruger, just something about that Uberti that I still remember it. Today all my single actions are Rugers.

The Uberti’s are beautiful guns. My issue is authenticity. If I’m going to buy a gun that has safeties beyond what Colt had originally designed, then I might as well buy a Ruger. If I can’t have the closest thing to authentic that I can get without spending a fortune, then I’ll buy the toughest revolver I can find.

If you are looking for the 4 click action like the Colts like I would , Ethan is right about the Uberti’s sold by Cimarron . I recently spoke to Cimarron and the P model old frame , the Evil Roy and the Arizona old frame still have the 4 click action . The Pietta Californian use to have the 4 click action , but I don’t know if that is still true or not . Buds was selling them .

Hello.
If you want a clone of the SAA I'd go with Pietta for authenticity. Personally I would not buy an Uberti with their hammer safety. It's too close to the SAA to not be authentic, if that makes sense.. Now, you want a .357, and that certainly is not a "cowboy" load..
Rugers to me are different animals, sort of the evolution of the SAA, but they are not SAAs. Piettas and Ubertis are, though of course they aren't Colts.
I just got a Blackhawk (today, LOL) and although it is closer to an SAA than I thought, the internals are much different. Same for the New Vaquero. To me the Ruger finishes are not as nice as the Uberti/Pietta, which case hardening are fake but look great. For durability the Rugers win hands down. They are utilitarian guns.
So if your priority is aesthetics and authenticity, Pietta IMHO.
If you want an everlasting shooter, Ruger.
Gil.

Uberti's are "+p" safe, Piettas are not.

That makes no sense. Unless you get a newer Uberti with the retractable firing pin, the "safeties" are so easy to ignore, I don't even remember which guns have what. The guns still operate like a Colt. This is exactly why I buy them by the dozen, versus Rugers. I love my Rugers but they do not scratch the same itch. A modern Uberti is closer to the original Colt SAA than a modern Colt.
