I was finally able to get out and do some follow-up chrono work using PIF bullets I received from jell-dog and Dudedog.

First up is the 357sig load I already tested for accuracy using the 125gr HAP bullets from Dudedog and jell-dog. I still need to load/test the HAP bullet in 9mm, but this was the load with a good 4 shot grouping and one flyer. Getting a nice velocity on this one.

357sig, P229, 3.9"
COL: 1.140"
Hornady, 125gr, HAP, Unique, 7.5gr, CCI500
Average: 1318
ES: 39
SD: 16.9
Force: 482
PF: 164
Velocities: 1297, 1336, 1334, 1317, 1307

Next up is the Nosler JHP I received from Dudedog. This was tested at 15yards with a 1.10" grouping, but only 3 shots. Again some nice velocities, and a very quality bullet to load in 357sig.

357sig, P229, 3.9"
COL: 1.120"
Nosler, 124gr, JHP, PowerPistol, 7.9gr, CCI500
Average: 1306
ES: 35
SD: 11.8
Force: 470
PF: 161
Velocities: 1282, 1313, 1298, 1314, 1314, 1317, 1312, 1302

The next 3 loads are the RMR 147gr target bullets I received from Dudedog, which I tested in 357sig. These load were all tested for accuracy, with the BE-86 not testing very accurate, and the CFE Pistol load giving the best accuracy. I don't know if it is due to the difference in velocities, maybe showing that the bullet prefer a 1000fps vs 1100fps velocity, or something else. Here are the chrono data for the 3 loads I tested:

357sig, P229, 3.9"
COL: 1.140"
RMR, 147gr, HMHPRR, BE86, 6.6gr, CCI500
Average: 1115

Force: 338
PF: 149
Velocities: 1010, 1010, 1030, 1020, 1015

357sig, P229, 3.9"
COL: 1.140"
RMR, 147gr, HMHPRR, Longshot, 6.9gr, CCI500
Average: 1136

SD: 16.8
Force: 421
PF: 166
Velocities: 1151, 1149, 1140, 1134, 1109

These next loads are the 100gr 380ACP RMR bullets I received from Dudedog. I basically just chrono's the bullets to see what velocities I am seeing, but I was also able to test them for accuracy at 10 yards.

The first two loads were only 3 rounds each, but the first load also gave me the best grouping. It was a 3 leave clover, difficult to meassure, but probably about .14" grouping. The image of the grouping is below.

The following loads are using 115gr FMJ pulled bullets I received from jell-dog. Again these were tested for velocity only, but I was also able to do some accuracy testing at 10yards. The best grouping was 1.01", but I think it could have been better and I probably had a flyer. Velocities were also very good, putting it well into the minor category. The grouping image is also below.

Thanks again to Dudedog and jell-dog for their generosity. It has been a blast working up loads and testing these PIF bullets. I still have a few to go, but at least these bullets were put through their paces.

I had good results in 9mm with the RMR (Rocky Mountain Reloading) 100gr RNFP (Round nose Flat point). I don't normally shoot 100s in 9mm but they can be fun and they shot really well for me to.
Looks like they worked well for you in that load. Nice shooting.:) Glad I sent you some to play with. Groups like that are usually good for a :D

I am shooting the 147s in 9mm so I am not reaching the vels you are in .357 Sig.
Interesting that they seem happier around 1000fps there though.

Looks like you changed targets. Do you like the new ones better?

PS: Hope you had a great Christmas, Thanks for the card.

For 300Whspr
PIF = Pay it forward=Pay it forward is an expression for describing the beneficiary of a good deed repaying it to others instead of to the original benefactor.

RMR = Rocky Mountain Reloading

HMHPRR= RMR Hardcore Match Hollow Point RR Plated

HAP = Hornady Action Pistol

I believe vaalpens force= ft/lbs energy

Dudedog, thanks for responding to the questions from 300Whspr.

Yes, the 100gr RMR's really shot well. My target is out of focus when I shoot, but the guy with me said I was shooting well. It is only when I changed the target when I realized it was a nice clover leave. It was one of those :banghead: moments. This load should have been a group of 5 instead of 3, but you make decisions based on what you have.

No, I did not really change my targets. I just printed the load information and then decided when I did my chrono work what will work for me. At 10 yards I think it worked out ok for me, but I will probably keep the 15 yard targets that I have been using. Things get fuzzy out at distance.

Thanks, I had a great Christmas. Hopefully you had too. I received your card, thanks!
