OK,

I have a FFL that may be interested as acting as a third party.
I will let you know.

Stand by......

Here is a link to the rifle in question and gthe thread where I bought it from Zac Smith.

origin of rifle with Pics

Check it out. Details of auction to follow. Still standing by for word from my dealer.

Quick Question

Would a raffle be considered "gambling" in some states? Is there a lawyer in here who can give us some insight? I just had to toss this out there ... 'would feel pretty bad had this been on my mind, never posted it, then bad things happened to THR and/or members involved. You just never know who's monitoring a website and when.

OK this killed it for me No raffle. I am just going to sell it and give the family the money. To many ways to get into trouble here.

Please look for the gun in the Rifle sale forum. Sorry for the bother, I thought this was a really sweet idea.

Sorry to here it bigjim, raffles are a frequent event on gun boards and 2nd Amendment sites. Seems the legality wouldn't have been a problem, except with the "that's gambling" GASP, folks. Of course those folks don't have to enter, but that's another story! Good luck.

Somehow I get a funny feeling there's some subtle shots being taken at me for my statement designed "ONLY" to "PROTECT" the interests of the website and anyone directly involved. Do whatever you want. If you know you can do it without any problems, go for it. Don't let the writings of one stop you.

Not by me Taurus 66. I am grateful for your post. Its another aspect that needed to come out. I reminded me of a situation I had read about on the net.

I anyway guys its a done deal. I have put it up for sale and I will sell it.

If anyone feels like making a small donation to the cause PM me and I will set it up. Also consider checking out the Strider Forum where much good work is being done in support of the troops.

Jim

I spoke too soon

No Bigjim, I really think you ought to go through with it. Oleg made your idea sticky. He has approved of it. The raffle is ok, and besides, it is for a charitable cause, not for profit.

No way I could afford that rifle, I had to borrow just to buy my Yugo SKS.

Bigjim, I totally understand if you don't wanna deal with the hassle, but if you end up auctioning, is there some other way we can donate to that family? I have BTDT with money being tight while I was deployed; I'd like to help a little.

Whatever you do with the rifle, do it legally. too bad that the raffle is out but I do understand why with the concerns that were raised. Never crossed my mind it could be considered gambling or that it would maybe be illegal.

All the best,
Glenn B
