Pistol Cyllinder Removal

Ruger Security Six(357 mag) and S&W Model 27(357 mag)
How do I remove the cyllinder from these pistols?

I don't own a Ruger, but on the model 27, you need only remove one screw.

It's the front sideplate screw. The one on the right side, just above and slightly in front of the trigger.

With the screw out, lay the gun on it's right side, swing the cylinder open and hold it open. Holding the cylinder in place, use your other hand to slide/wiggle the yoke out of the frame and the cylinder at the same time. Don't try to slide the yoke/cylinder out of the gun at the same time. Removing them together is a sure way to put a big scratch down the side of your cylinder.

IIRC, on the Ruger you take off the grips , cock the hammer, and then insert a small pin (like a paperclip) throough the hole in the bottom of the mainspring guide. Release the hammer and the spring becomes captive. Remove the spring assembly (but don't take out the pin!!!). You can now see a hole through the back of the trigger guard frame. At an angle, you need to push in on a plunger while pulling down on the rear of the trigger-guard. Don't pry on anything as this will marr your gun. Once the trigger-guard assembly is removed, the cylinder just falls out when you swing it to the side and pull forward.
