Several years ago I purchased a nib 9 mm F.E.G. PJK-9Hp I have fired it on 5 different occasions and each time it jams on every round. I have tried 2 different ammo types ball and jhp neither makes any difference. Is it possible the recoil spring is too tight preventing the slide bar from retracting all the way? or could it be the ammo?. I have read good things about this model, but so far mine has not even fired 20 rounds in it any ideas?. Thanks

What kind of jam? You'll need to give specifics of what the pistol is doing when it jams (feeding, extracting, etc.) and what the jam looks like.

Have you field stripped it? cleaned it with Hoppies and a rag. Lubed it with a good gun oil such as Tetra. Then try it with some round nose ball ammo Good luck

The FEG Hi Powers are rough. I had one, and by the time I got rid of it, I had replaced EVERY part but the barrel, frame, and slide with Browning parts, and replaced the slide with another FEG slide.

It finally ran really reliable and had a very nice trigger, but after thousands of rounds, the slide began to peen the frame.

If you manage to get it reliable, they're fun, but they don't hold up over the long haul IME nearly as well as the FN/Browning version.

FWIW,
Wes

Take it apart and look at the feed ramp, the breech face, the firing pin hole, the inside of the hook on the extractor, the magazine lips, and the bottom surfaces on the rear of the slide.

These are the commonest problem areas.

Any rough spots, mill marks, burrs, or anything other than mirror smooth needs to be remedied. It takes experience to know exactly what to do and what not to do. You will just have to learn it the hard way like everyone else did on their first problem gun.

Either that or wimp out and get rid of it.

FEG 9mm jam

It jams trying to feed the next round, the spent cartridge ejects fine, I will try looking at the feed ramp. etc I guess I just expected a new gun to work without having to modify or repair it. Thank you for your feedback.

Hmm... I have one of those Hi-Power clones. Mine works great!

Most that have the FEG clones have reported favorably on them.

Had better try another magazine.

How old is your ammo?

I would say it's a combination of breech face and feed ramp. But...

If it's been sitting a long time and it dried out and you're using old ammo, then it's not gonna work real good.

friction is the enemy.

If it's been sitting a long long time...Before you start modifying/polishing anything...first hose the whole thing out real good with WD40. I mean really blast it till it runs out all the little cracks and seams.

Then wipe it all down and keep wiping it till all the gunk quits dripping all over. Keep blasting it with WD40 till no more black junk runs out with the excess WD40. Then hose it out again with CLP or some other teflon impregnated lube in an arisol can.

Then buy SOME BRAND NEW GOSH DARN AMMO.

Then shoot it.

That might be all it needs. Happens alot with noobs.

I exchanged the magazine for a lower capacity (dumb choice) one, both were brand new. The problem was identical with both mags, the new round jams just as it starts to enter the chamber. If I manually pull back the slide the shells eject and feed fine, that's what made me wonder if the slide action wasn't completely coming back all the way?

Jams on every round...do you mean the nose of the bullet gets stuck somewhere on the base of the feed ramp, or maybe even magazine lip?

I've had that happen with mine, though only one specific brand of hollowpoint (I don't remember which, maybe Golden Saber?) was affected.

Where's the case rim?
Trying to get under the extractor or below it considerably?
Still in the mag?

Where's the bullet nose?

Pictures help.

The point of the bullet jams up against the roof of the camber, I think it has come out of the mag, but I will have to fire it again to be sure. I have totally flushed and re-lubed the entire gun and I always keep it in a padded case and air conditioned environment in my gun safe. Next time I try it I will take photos I have other guns so the two time I bought new ammo and it did not work I just put it back in my case and used another sidearm. (don't want to waste those range fees). Thanks for everyone's help
