I have searched plenty and have not really found a good answer. Hopefully some of you will have some insite to share....

So, if the Walther PK380 rated for +P ammo?? I picked one up at the shop the other day for no other reason than they had it for a GREAT price. After shooting it I love this gun. Very accurate for me and easy to shoot. So, I am planning on carrying it sometimes. I saw that Buffalo Bore had some +P ammo that is designed for self defense. Is it safe to shoot this ammo in the PK380?? Thanks in advance for any help

I just got some of that ammo---will let you know next time I go to the range.
Someone told me it fires fine in their Kel-Tec P3AT380 ( 8 oz. handgun _)

I purchased to use in my Sig P-238.....................

Will try in my kraut-american pistol..................

Call up WaltherUSA.

So you know, there is no such thing as +P in .380. Its either marketing or the manufacture is loading past a point that is rated standard. But there is no standard +P in this caliber.

Yes, it is marketing. There is a standard that ranks all ammo, SAAMI. 9mm must fit in that standard. up to 10% more is +p. +P+ can be higher or within +P range. Marketing.

At this time there is NO SAAMI rating for +P for .380.

Also beware that Buffalo Bore sells their .380 using data they collected using gold dot bullets. When you buy from them you are not getting a gold dot bullet.

So when they say it causes x amount expansion in y amount of penetration it is a lie.

The bullet they use now is a pretty crappy one hollow point generic.

Marketing aside, IIRC, the PK380 owners manual indicates that +P ammo is all right on occasion but that the increased wear may require more frequent servicing and attention from the owner.
