Ok, I've searched the threads and feel I understand where I can and cannot carry in Alabama. The law appears to restrict only carrying while either in a public demonstration or within 1000 ft of a demonstration. Also, you cannot carry in K-12 with intent to do harm, but LEOs and permit holders are explicitly exempted from the restriction from carrying in K-12 schools. Several posters mentioned not being able to carry in places that serve alcohol or while consuming alcohol, but I cannot find those sources and it does not say this on my permit. Here is what I am most concerned with:
1. Are all state and local government buildings off limits?
2. If so, would a publically funded college be considered a government building?
3. Are hospitals off limits; and if not are they if they are publically funded?
4. Are places that serve alcohol off limits?
5. Can you not carry if you have consumed alcohol?
Also, where is a good place to get info on legalities of CCW? handgunlaw.us has some info and apparently packing.org is gone. I would like to know the rules for Alabama in particular, but I would also like a place to research laws of other states while carrying. also, a good source for federal law (such as the national parks, WMA, etc provided by handgunlaw.us)
thanks for the help
