I know there are a bunch of people on here from Colorado so I figured I would ask some of you. I am fairly new to CO and am looking for somewhere I can go on a hike with my dog and go shooting a bit.

Does anyone know of any good places near Denver/Lakewood?

Thanks.

National forest/blm land is open to shooting, as long as you're 150 yards away from any established roads/trails, campgrounds, ect.

You could head west towards Bailey, not that far, and be in the Pike Natl Forest. The lost creek wilderness is a few miles south of hwy 285, you could find a secluded area in there and shoot all you want.:)

If you want to try near Sedalia---from Sedalia
Go west about 15 miles to Rampart Range Rd. You used to be able to go south on Rampart but too many slobs were messing the place up so they closed that to shooting about 10 years ago. But --there is a USFS ranger station right there on the corner of the road from Sedalia and Rampart on the north side. You could ask them were a good place would be.
OR
Just keep going past Rampart a few miles till you hit a big fork in the road (there's a bar/restaurant there). Take the left fork going up hill. That will take you into Pike Nat. Forest. The first couple miles has a lot of private land but it's obvious. After that it's all Nat Forest till a couple miles before Deckers.
Should be able to shoot up there but I would ask the rangers.
Hope this helps
