Plain edged or serrated?

I'll tell you what changed my mind. When I actually shot some game birds, and followed the instructions to cut the feet off, and I don't care HOW sharp that blade is, you will be sawing for a while to get them off. Try with a serrated edge, and WOW!! THAT'S how it's supposed to work.

Ever since then I've used half-serrated blades.

Sawing?

. . . I don't care HOW sharp that blade is, you will be sawing for a while to get them off.

Well, actually, I have a saw for that.

One on my Leatherman, one on my Wenger Mountaineer.

Additionally, if I'm outdoors looking for game, I will also have a larger, heavier blade of some kind. Leuku, perhaps. Maybe a light hatchet.

You make a good point, though. If your task-of-the-day includes stuff like hacking the feet off of birds, at least one of your blades should reflect that purpose.
