Where can I get some plain jane wood grips with no diamonds for my 1911?

I guess what I'm looking for are grips like those walnut grips that were on the original WWI 1911s.

What grips are you referring to? The WWI 1911's were issued with Diamond Checkered Walnut grips. ;)

Maybe I had that backwards, WWI 1911s had diamonds and 1911A1s had plain grips... Anyway, that doesn't really matter.

I'm looking for checkered grips with no diamonds. Does anybody have any ideas where to find some?

Thanks for the link WhoKnowsWho, but they only have the checkered with diamonds. They are also way too glossy and fancy. I'm looking for very plain. Think military issue.

Who is it?

Howdy DMK,

Brownells! If they ask ya if ya want a catalog for just a few bucks more...Say NO! You'll get into trouble with your credit card provider in short order. :p Seriously though, Brownells is your one-stop shop for not only 1911 parts and accessories, but most other guns as well. The catalog is
to a gun nut what the old Sears catalogs were to our grandparents.

Ah, thanx Tuner. Yea, Brownells is awesome. One of the best for customer service too.

Already got the catalog and I know what you mean about the credit card problem. Between them, Midway and my C&R discount, I end up spending a lot of money "saving a few bucks". ;)

I can think of a number of sources. but you just found the best one ... :D

The only thing I can add is there are some companies that make the pre-World War II "full checkered" grips out of deluxe figured wood - if you want to pay the extra. Brownells might have them too.
