Anyone members here take this course from Gabe Suarez? It is 2 days and there is one scheduled in the L.A. area next month. I have found warriortalk.com which seems to be his website, and there are some reviews - mostly on philosophy of the training, etc. That is great, but I would like to get some feel for the curriculum.

BTW, I have not read any of his books.

Here is the description:

Specifically Designed For Civilian Defenders! Perfect for female shooters!
A Great Way to tune up your Suarez International Gunfighting Skills.

This information filled weekend course is a comprehensive presentation and review of the Modern "Combative" Technique of Pistol Marksmanship. We present seven days worth of instruction and skill development in a two day weekend format for a fraction of the price of many fixed-location schools. We teach in a non-stressed, non-competitive format where the goal is learning new skills.

The class is geared towards the beginner, or the student whose sole concern is developing enough skill to defend home and family with a firearm during a crisis. It can also be taken as a skill-development course for experienced shooters, or as a tune up by previous Suarez alumni.

Whatever your skill level, this class will improve your speed, marksmanship, and gun handling ability.

I took Gabe's Close-range Gunfighting class a few months back when he made his way down to SC. Two days of great learning.

I can't speak for the class you are looking at, but I can tell you that Gabe is one hell of a public speaker and that you'll learn a good bit. The biggest problem I incurred was not going slow enough to try his tips and tricks. If you run through fast, you'll fall back on your old skills and miss out on the training you're there for. Go slow, slower than you want, and learn.

Like I said, Gabe's has a fantastic ability to speak clearly and get his point across without sounding pompous or bombastic. His ability with the pistol is also very apparent. He's not putting on a sham.

Bring more mags than you think you'll need. Reloading in the brief down-time you have is frustrating. Better to have ten loaded mags ready to go at the beginning of the day. Not necessary or required, but...

Get his books. He doesn't pull any punches or write in a flowery, zen-like manner. You'll understand his writings a lot better after going through the class.

Can't wait til he comes back to this region next year.
