I seem to recall someone remarking that plated is same a lead for Glock barrels. Is that correct?

I have been using Berry's plated bullets in my G-26 with no problems at all. My beretta also likes the berry's plated as well. I just ordered another 1000 (my third thousand) of them in the 124 gr hollow point configuration.

I have also tried 20 brinell hardness hardcast lead, match grade bullets from penn bullets. They leave no fouling in my G-26 glock, but my beretta hates any lead bullet and fouls horribly with the 20 brinells. Interestingly the Beretta has conventional rifling, but the manual says specifically DO NOT USE Lead. When you see the fouling and the bullets hitting the target sideways (The beretta) you tend to follow their recommendation. :what:

I've had mixed results; when I used West Coast plated 9mms in my 17, I had no problem at all; good stability and accuracy, no feeding problems, etc. When I tried West Coast 180 grain 40s in my 22, accuracy went to hell, and more bullets were hitting the target sideways than point-on. Because I can get a deal on bulk buys, I went all-jacketed, and haven't had a problem since, but if I was ONLY shooting 9mm, I would've stuck with what worked (in MY pistol, at least).
HTH.

I still have about 400 Penn

.40 hardcast bullets from 500 I bought 8 years ago. 400 left because they leaded so badly I didn't dare use any more. Want 'em?

Thanks for the offer, I dont own a .40 S&W.

My experience with Berry's plateds extends only to the 9mm caliber.

Penns that I bought recently for my .45 are very good, accurate weight and sizing and no fouling at all. the 9mms did not foul my G-26.

They may have been using a different formula 8 years ago?

Glock, HK and a few others have polygonal barrels, which lead up with soft bullets and could cause pressure problems

I've sent tens of thousand of plated bullets down the pipe of various HKs; a couple times over a thousand rounds between cleanings (long weekends). Mostly Berry's, but recently West Coast have earned my favor. Not a problem, no leading, just fouling. Berry's are softer than West Coast.

Based on my understanding that polygonal barrels have problems with soft lead bullets, I've recently started experimenting with the very hard lead bullets from Oregon Trail. They work like a charm, no leading and are super (!!) accurate. But then, I won't mind being maimed and disfigured, and I only do that when there is nobody within shrapnel distance should something bad happen. You really shouldn't do as I do.

My range pistol, a Glock 34, and I are on our 12th case of Rainier 115 FMJ... Absolutely no problems with them in my pistols.

YMMV
