Poll question #2 - I guess somebody didn't like the race angle... OK here's a new one.

I didn't vote because I support 2a and RKBA everywhere except in a bar when consuming alcohol. Which I am sure Plaxico was doing. There fixed it for you Cromo and Bailey.

It's not a race issue. If it was, we would have heard from Jesse Jackson by now. :D

I don't think he should get special treatment one way or the other because of his notoriety as an NFL player.

I think he broke a bad law by carrying in a 'gun-free' Utopia like NYC, which I don't have any real problem with, if you have no choice (like citzens of NJ, or Chicago, or DC).

I think he broke a sensible law, by carrying in a bar, especially since he didn't have enough self-discipline not to fiddle with the gun. Also, from what I understand, the gun was not in a holster, so he's at least guilty of being an idiot.

Not a race problem... a stupid problem.
Carrying in a VERY anti carry area... this is a personal choice thing... I feel that I should be able to carry in any locality... BUT he was stupid, did stupid things, and got caught.
Carrying into a bar... stupid.
Mexican carry... personally I feel this falls under stupid.
Mexican carry in SWEATPANTS... VERY stupid. Not to mention that sweatpants are workout gear... not what you wear when clubbing.
Mexican carry of a glock in sweatpants... This is asking darwin to punch your ticket.
Grabbing a falling firearm and hitting the trigger. This is hand delivering that message to darwin.

Dude... I was in the middle of posting to the first Plax poll and *poof*... it all went away!! Oh well, that's political correctness for ya'. Anyway, I voted for RKBA everywhere, period, no infringement.

I support 2a and RKBA everywhere except in a bar

What would you think of a state that didn't prohibit carry in a bar? Would that make you shake your fist and grind your teeth? Would you begin writing letters and calling representatives to stop law abiding citizens from protecting themselves while they patronize a tavern? Would you demand that bars in this hypothetical state be added to the list of gun-free zones? What about the business' owner? Bar tender and employees? How much infringement are you willing to live with?

So close to getting on the Darwin awards list...... To quote from the site

Honoring those who improve the human species...by accidentally removing themselves from it!

Lets be really honest, this is not about RKBA, it's about the culture of "entitlement" and the arrogance of fame.

The individual in question didn't believe that laws applied to him, only the "other people"......he should run for Governor of Illinois.

Again, the poll options do not reflect what I think.

Plaxico willingly and knowingly broke the law.

I think the state laws should be changed.

I put 'everywhere except NYC'.

The masses in NYC haven't had much experience with firearms due to the laws there making ownership difficult. Thus, they are apt to handle them poorly. Plaxico is a perfect example. I say keep all guns out of NYC.

This isn't hard. He is a moron who shot himself in the leg. Except he broke the law when he did it so now he will go to prison. Not for shooting himself in the leg and then allegedlly bribing a doctor to cover it up but for illegal carry of a gun.

So the real issue is the illegal carry.
Burress gets a little of my pity for living in an oppresive state but I sure didn't see him trying to do anything about it. He also moved from a more free state on his own volition so he could make millions of dollars. Since he gave up his freedoms for (more) money it sounds like a little justice for everyone in the end, likely.

like citzens of NJ, or Chicago, or DC
Hey, here in NJ getting a carry permit is easy!

[if you're a senator, a movie star, or best friends with the governor]

If you can't keep it in your pants you shouldn't be carrying at all ! Doesn't matter where you live or are.

I don't understand the bar angle except that you are probably more likely to find some dumb son of a bitch looking to prove something inside of an establishment that serves alcohol. That being said, If you can't "hold your liquor" you should't be in a bar either !

So you're on the jury and the case is presented.

He has no prior felonies.

He is a professional athlete and has a certain celebrity status, and as a juror you must ignore this.

The case is presented, however the defense lawyer argues that his 2nd Amendment rights have been violated.

Let's assume that you agree with the defense, however the letter of the law was broken beyond a reasonable doubt.

"Guilty" or "Not Guilty" ??
