Thought I would pass along a very pleasent experience I had with the Leupold factory service center. I have an older Vari-X II 2-7X28 scope that I inherited from my father. Recently I dug it out of the closet with the idea of mounting it on a rifle without optics. I noticed that I was having trouble getting the reticle in sharp focus so I decided to ship it back to Leupold. I sent it by U.S. Postal Priority Mail (shipping was $10.00 with insurance and delivery confirmation from Houston, Texas) on Sat. July 16, Leupold sent me an e-mail on Mon. July 18 confirming receipt. The scope was repaired on the 20th and UPS(United Parcel Service) delivered it today. They sent me a letter telling me that they completely disassembled the scope, "checked windage and elevation travel, image jump, drift, loss of motion. parallax and image quality, checked cam followers, screws, lens and pivot tube slots". They did find a problem with the Erector system and "rebuilt/reworked" that system. They sent me a diagram of the reticle adjustment before and after they repaired the erector. I also elected to have "Target Knobs" added while they had the scope. This of course involved a fee which I sent with the scope. To my pleasent surprise, I now have a 1/4 MOA "click" ajustments where before I had a non click smooth vernier 1/2 MOA adjustments. To say the least, I am very pleased.
