Complaint about Juan Williams's lack of knowledge and professionalism on firearms and race issues
Dear Fox News Sunday, and Juan Williams:
A couple of months ago, during a discussion on your show about a gun & gun rights issue, Juan. Williams went on a nearly-inexplicable anti-gun, anti-freedom rant which consisted of the typical ill-informed liberal nonsensical statements about guns, their place in society as useful self-defense tools, and gun rights. The kicker was that he actually ended his nonsensical rant with this statement:
"I DON'T LIKE GUNS."
Go review the tape - he actually said something THAT stupid! A "journalist" who has made his way to a popular Sunday morning news show said something *that* asinine. Unbelievable and sad, but true.
So Juan does not "like" guns. OK. But that statement shows clearly that his whole anti-freedom rant and belief system was based upon a wholly irrelevant fact; that being his personal like or dislike of guns. I suppose that Juan would have all police and military disarmed too, since he does not "like guns". That would maybe make him feel better. My advice to him would have been "Well, then don't carry one, Juan, if you don't like them.", but I doubt that would be good enough for him; evidently he won't be happy until there are no guns in the hands of the police, the military, or citizens, since he doesn't "like them". Presumably this means they are good for *nothing* and serve no purpose whatsoever in society, at least in his mind.
Actually, the statement makes clear that he is the typical leftist hoplophobe "blissninny" type who engages in "projection" (the projection that most hoplophobes engage in is a illogical reasoning that goes something like this: "I, Juan Williams, certainly don't trust MYSELF with a gun, because I'm unpredictably violent and might shoot someone inappropriately, and therefore, all of YOU other people must be like me, and must not be trusted with guns."), and is blatently unfamiliar with the topic he discusses. He chimes in on gun issues as if he were quite the expert, but it's clear from his nonsensical statements that he doesn't know the real differences in various firearms and their functionality - is this willful ignorance of the topic on his part? Because it would be a very simple matter for a journalist of his stature to engage in some simple self-education with the help of a staffer, or god forbid, even have someone take him to the gun range and shoot a few guns, to investigate what he is talking about as if he were an expert.
Furthermore, this is a man who has written extensively about black American history and the struggles of black Americans to obtain their civil rights, which presumably would INCLUDE gun rights, since it is the most fundamental civil right of them all in the USA, along with freedoms of speech and association. There's a reason why the 2nd amendment is the SECOND one, right after the FIRST amendment. Does Juan not understand the extensive and well-documented the rascist roots of the so-called 'gun control' movement in the United States? Or does he just sweep this under the rug when discussing gun issues? 'Gun control' as concept began in the 20th century solely as a method (initially) to deprive black Americans of their fundamental civil rights to own and use firearms in self-defense. It seems that too many blacks were getting guns to defend themselves from lynch mobs and other violence intended to be meted out by the KKK and thier ilk, and too many white men were getting shot and killed by these uppity blacks. The whites "couldn't have that", of course, and so 'gun control' laws came into being. The need for good honest upright black citizens in inner cities to arm themselves to defend themselves against a different kind of thug (gang-bangers) is now, more than ever, a dire need of the black communities - but not only does Juan ignore this fact, he actually is a proponent for laws that disarm (ONLY) the good upright citizens (i.e. 'gun control' laws), while doing absolutely nothing about the problem of violent criminals, who ignore the gun laws already on the books. This makes the good people in the inner cities "sitting ducks" for the criminal acts of the gang-banging thugs.
Frankly, it's the height of ignorance and hypocrisy for Juan to portray himself as an expert on black America, while turning a blind eye to the well-documented anti-black rascism of 'gun control' laws, and actually support laws which would seek to disarm those most in need of protecting themselves from violent criminals - people of all colors, including many blacks, in urban areas infested with gangs and violence.
That one statement ("I don't like guns") succintly summarizes and makes crystal clear that Juan is a sorry excuse for a "journalist", and should be relegated to the ranks of the local TV news in Podunk, USA. Sad because he otherwise is an intelligent cogent voice of reason for presenting the "left-ish side" of issues. Please get rid of ridiculous amateur!
Thank you for your time and consideration of this matter
Sincerely,
