Hi everyone. I am trying to legalize Crossbow hunting here in my province of Newfoundland, Canada. We can already use a Bow to hunt Moose, Black Bear, and Caribou, so why not a Crossbow??? It is legal in other provinces of Canada, but not here. This makes no sense to me.

I have also started a Petition in hopes that we could get enough signatures to present it to the Government of Newfoundland. I would like to get at least
10 000 names on the petition. The more the better!!

You can view the Petition and sign it at:

Thanks in advance for all your support:)

hey man, before you put too much effort into this. internet petitions are worth the paper they are printed on. i think you may fair better by going to local hunting & fishing shows, major shops etc with an actual petition.

Are crossbows legal during general season? That is typically how it works down here. The difference in speed and range from crossbow to bow is quit a bit. You also take more of the human error from the equation. So instead of trying to legalize during archery season just push for general or muzzleloader or something of that nature you would probably stand a much better chance.

We only have a two week archery season that runs the two week period before rifle season opens. You can still hunt with a compound or long bow all during the rifle season. That's what I am aiming for, to hunt them during the rifle season. Thanks for the tips as well!!
