Please help! Opinions needed!

I recently came upon an old remington 11-48 that was "broken." after stripping the trigger assembly, cleaning it completely and putting it back in i figured out that the last owner had simply reassembled it wrong last time he/she cleaned it. However, it seemed to me that the 11-48 was a strong, good action, but i have little experience in this field.

Co-incedentally im in the market for a new shotgun and the remington 11-87 series popped into my head. I have read some reviews of poor ejection (?) and other miscellaneous failures but perhaps it was a bad production run?
Are they good guns or just a waste of time?
Would i be better off spending my money on my other choice, a benelli m4, or will the 11-87 function just fine?

The 11-48 was an updating of JMB's classic recoil operated action.
The design was well made and many are still out there being used.

Lots of these were used plenty by skeet shooters.

The actions are limited to 2 3/4" shells,TTBOMK.

IMO, the 11-48 is well worth owning.

Benellis and Berettas are the current "in" thing in semi-auto shotguns. I know a lot of people with 11-87s and they are all happy with them.

I have a 11-87. I believe it was made in the second year of production. I have fired oh, i dunno, 6 or 7 K shells through it. Never a malfunction. Well, the wood fore stock did split around 3 k.......but the synthetic stock is holding up very well.

11-87s are awesome semi-autos. Well worth every penny.

The 11-87 is great! Mine failed to fire (cock) in the duck blind and after using the end of a nylon comb to punch out the trigger group pins, I swished the trigger group in the pond water to remove the dirt, grease, rice straw and powder, put it back together and it worked just fine for the rest of the season with just a little WD-40 sprayed later that day.

I don't believe you can kill a 11-87, I bet I have over 5,000 rounds through mine.
