My dad's Marlin 99 .22 rifle has been handed down to me, and I plan to keep shooting it like he did for nearly 50 years.

It's drilled and tapped, but what kind of scope mount will work on it?

There is no groove on the top of the receiver.

(I know there were mounts for it, and I've seen pics but with no detail or info.)

Thanks!

Thanks, but the top of the 99 receiver has no slot or groove.

It's flat with two, small, drilled and tapped holes.

Here is mine

Using the scope rings I showed you and an NCStar shooter series - 3-9x40

That will not work on his rifle.
It doesn't have 3/8" tip of mount groove in the top of the receiver that I can see in the photo.
And he already said it doesn't have one.

My best guess is Weaver made a base that fit them back then.
But I have no idea which one tonight.

Doesnt look like it

Your picture shows a groove on the side. But its in front of you not me...LOL..as I understand it you could get The Mounts are Weaver .875 Tip off type

THEY work on your model but they are just two separated versions of what I showed you.

Even if it were a groove, which it isn't.

The receiver is at least an inch+ wide on top.

Nobody has ever made a scope ring clamp that would span across that gap and clamp on it!

I think the old 99 used the same construction as the 57m.

A base that fits the 57m is a Weaver #58 (p/n 48058).

I can't find anything that lists the hole placement on the #58, but at only $7 it wouldn't be a lot to buy one and find out. Worst case you could have a smith drill it to match the holes in your receiver.
