I have an opportunity to buy some old, PMC .41 Rem Mag ammo. From what I have read about it being a foreign brand with mixed reviews, I wanted to get an opinion from the members here.

Is it good? Accurate? It was in a storage unit, but it looks like the brass and primers are in good condition.

Thanks!

PMC ammo is good ammo. It's South Korean manufacture. I particularly like PMC brass... I still have some in .41 that is 30 years old, at least.

What configuration is it? SP, HP, FMJ?

It is partial jacket with hollow point. It looks like it's half copper and lead. I added a pic below

OK... I had some of that, too. Those hollowpoints are about as rigid as anything, they are not likely to expand, even at Magnum velocity, but it's a pertty accurate bullet... and, as I mentioned, it provides you with some excellent brass.

Well I'm glad they'll at least give me bang for my buck. Any bullets you don't recommend? I have a box of Speer 210gr hunting rounds HP and Remington SP.

I haven't shot much of it in recent times, but it was one of my favorites back when I was shooting a lot of revolver. Back then, whatever powder they used burned VERY clean compared to any other ammo I could find at the time.

I have used PMC hollow points, SJFN and FMJ'S in both 357 and 45acp with no issues.
I have not used PMC in my 41 mags, but would not hesitate using it.
I take it that the price is right? 50 cents or less per round!!!

Buy the ammo and get the powder and primers you need and learn to reload!

Loading straight wall pistol is so easy and lots of fun. And by golly you'll have plenty of ammo!

I have fired thousands of rounds of PMC in calibers like 9mm, 223, and 45 ACP. All FMJ for training. Never had any issues, seemed consistent.

I like PMC for factory ammo. I have shot some in 357 magnum but never 41. Plenty in 45 auto. I've never had a complaint.

Grab the stuff you need and I will put on a clinic. Avery has tons of powder and the best shot at primers is sportsmans right down the road from you. I could float you a tray of lpp to get you started if that's what is holding you up.

OP[Adam], this here is a mighty fine opportunity for you.^^^ Think it over and let AJC1 know.

I like PMC. I recently picked some up .44 Mag and .44 Special. Exact same bullet, like an earlier poster stated they are not soft bullets and expansion may or may not be possible, I can tell you in the .44 Special case it ain’t gonna happen. But it’s accurate and reliable, also said the brass is good! Save it.

I still have a box of 6.5x55 somewhere on the shelf.

Like many of the others, I’ve shot PMC ammo in several calibers. My only issue was a blackening of the rim and extractor grooves on some .44 Magnum cases in the late 1990’s. It was possibly caused by some sort of chemical reaction with the burned powder and the brass and the walnut media wasn’t able to polish it away when tumbled.

Stay safe.

I've been using PMC in various calibers since about 1990. It's good stuff. No issues at all with what I've run.

I've used quite a bit of different PMC ammo over the years and definitely would grab it over PPU, S&B, or any of the economy imported stuff. I'll also take it over Winchester or Remington bulk.

Their brass seems to be as good as about any other if you take up AJC1's offer and dip your toes into the reloading pool.
