Pocket Carry: S&W vs. Taurus

The 642 is Smith's best deal and a really nice pocket revolver. They had 'em here a few years back for about $310. I gave $285 for my Taurus 85SSUL. I bought the Taurus at the time when I was getting a carry permit because it was the first alloy gun I saw that was +P rated. Now, they're all +P rated.

I still prefer to be able to cock the hammer, though, so a shrouded hammer rather than hammerless would be a better option for me if I wanted completely pocket capable. I carry often in an UM's ankle holster lately with the Taurus and it needs the hammer for the retention strap. I could bob the hammer spur, but I prefer to keep it. When I ankle carry it, I have a primary in my pocket and figure the ankle rig is easier to reach in the car and not uncomfortable seated like strong side IWB. That's my reasoning, anyway. Seems to work for me.
