i have hand guns but am considering a pocket gun.
i wont get an auto caliber smaller than a 380 or revolver smaller than 38spec
(unless 327 mag comes in j frame)
im leaning towards a j-frame scandium but interested in 380 seecamp and ruger lcp
if they made the 357 mag with the bodygaurd hammer in a scandium jframe it would be my gun of choice
id like to hear what everyone thinks is ideal for a pocket gun and feel free to add others i didnt mention

(kahrs are a little too big i have a s&w 296 Lframe snub 44spec so it must be a really small gun to have advantage over it)

I carry a Kimber Ultra Carry II, .45ACP, in a pocket holster. Lots of firepower, conceals and accesses well. It is almost the same size as my snubby.

that kimber is too big
id rather carry the s&w 296
i looked at that kahr i really like it
is it worth the price of 2 ruger lcp's?

I use a S&W 642 with Desantis Nemesis holster. I've tried the Keltec's and Kahr and while they are slimmer I prefer the revolver due to I hate having to re-seat the magazine because the mag release gets inadvertantly released all the time.

from what ive read on kettec you have to send them back and have them spitshined for them to function properly
also the ruger looks and feels better made for same price

if anyone knows out of the short 1.87inch barrel how much faster does a 357 move than a 38+p

from what ive read on kettec you USED TO have to send them back and have them spitshined for them to function properly

Fixed it for ya. ;) No spitshining needed on my 2nd Gen P3AT.

Small is nice, and AFAIK, .380s don't come smaller than the P3AT. LIGHT is also really nice in a pocket gun, and thin...and again, AFAIK, P3AT is king in those depts...

Another vote for the KelTec P3at. I have a first gen and it has ran fine without any need of a "spit shine".

IMHO, most of the reported "problems" with these guns are stovepipes and/or FTE's which are probably due to limpwristing these little cannons.

The only thing I did to my KT 32 was to polish the ramp with my Dremel... I'm not even sure I had to do that.... It eats all ammo I have fed it..

I've had my p3at for about a year. I manage a retail store so I need something that doesn't print in my pocket. The p3at fills that need perfectly. I have stopped two armed robberies simply by letting them know I was armed before they tried something.

+1 for the NAA Guardian. Excellent pocket pistol that needs no fluff and buff.

$649 MSRP on the Kahr P380?

A 2nd gen Kel-Tec P3AT has a MSRP of $334 (my own has been flawless) and the new Ruger LCP has a MSRP of $330.

I don't understand Kahr's strategy on this one.

As far as S&W snubbies go, I also carry (as the mood strikes me) a S&W 638 in .38+p.

17.7 ounces fully loaded, which is about the most I can carry in a pocket. Anything heavier and I spend too much time pulling up my pants/shorts.

If you have a big enough pocket ... I like my new S&W M-625-10. It's a 1" bbl alumnum frmae S&W in .45acp. A Glock 27 is nice also. Find something you really are comfortable with and you will be all set.

picture which makes the Kel-Tec look large. Then, look at the comparison with the P3AT. Now this is a real pocket gun.
I've seen that photo before and I honestly don't see much of a difference in actual size. My P3AT in a Nemesis holster fits in my Levi's front pocket quite comfy. It's been 100% reliable for well over 800 rounds right out of the box (no fluff'n'buff needed), cycles Remington JHP's perfectly, is lightweight, and fits my hand well.
The P3AT is also half the weight and half the cost of the fabled Kahr. But everyone is different, it's good to have choices. :)
To me a "real pocket gun" is my Bauer .25 (Browning Baby clone) or my Astra 2000. ;) ... They are vest pocket size. Jack

I wear larger pocket jeans, either Carpenter's jeans or, my favorite, Wrangler Cargo jeans. There's plenty of room for my Kel Tec P11 and my home made wallet holster in there. It has been my favorite pocket carry for a dozen years now. I prefer 11 rounds of 9x19 +P and the gun points well for me.

The P11 is larger than a P3AT, but still pocketable. You have to choose your wardrobe for larger pockets, but it's worth it to me to get a real service caliber and the firepower to go with it for not tha much more weight and size. To each his own, though. I do plan a P3AT or LCP for my next gun just to give me that option. I have other pocket guns, too, but this is my favorite.

I think it's awesome that there's competition.

The Kahr is around 10 oz unloaded. After the initial rush, the price will drop, though I don't expect it to be lower than Ruger or KelTec. I was already fixing to buy the Ruger.

I have a PM9, like it a lot, and carry it a lot. To me, it's worth the price. Now I'll wait for the reviews on the 380 and LCP.

It's great to have choices.
