Pocket Holster for Jacket Carry

I am new to concealed carry but not to guns. I received my KY CDWL in June of this year and have enjoyed the pleasure and peace of mind of concealed carry. I primarily carry J frames. I have carried in both pocket and ankle holsters and found both to be good methods. Each has its pros and cons but works well. For driving and sitting long periods I prefer the Galco Ankle Glove. For shopping, moving around and chores I prefer the Galco Horse Hide Pocket Holster.

My question is “what is the best way to pocket carry in a jacket or coat”? I tried my pocket holster in several jackets and heavier coats but it does not properly position the gun in the pocket or the holster comes out when the gun is drawn. Also, on the occasion the holster did remain in the pocket, the entire side of the jacket came with the gun (remind self to keep jacket buttoned). Is there a holster made for jacket carry or should I just carry my J frame naked in the pocket?

Have carried J-frame and Colt DS in jacket or suit pocket for years in DeSantis pocket holster. It does not show, no need to button.

That's been an easy one for me....just grab what ever gun/holster that fits and stick it in the coat pocket.

I have two options -- A left-hand IWB holster that clips to the inside pocket of my jacket or a pocket holster (my preferred) that I can wear in the same location or discreetly shift to a pants pocket, if I need to shed the coat.

First off, congratulations on getting your CDWL! From what I understand, your jacket or coat pockets are too large for the gun in it's pocket holster . . . and that means the holster constantly shifts positions. Perhaps you could try this: Attach some of the soft side of velcro to the pocket holster. Not a lot, but maybe a 2" strip. Then attach the hook side of the velcro to the inside of your coat pocket such that when hooked to the pocket holster your gun is in a position that you can readily access. Also, if you want to transfer the gun to your pants pocket, you'll have the soft side of the velcro attached to the holster, so your pants won't get messed up in the process! Pretty nifty, eh?!

Most of the time, this is what I carry my J-frame in . . . though I also use a pocket or ankle holster too.
