Pocket holster getting loose

I carry a Colt Pocket Positive snub nose revolver in a leather holster in the front pocket of my Wrangler jeans. The leather holster was custom made for me and I like it a lot. When the holster was new it was a very snug fit. But over time the holster has become less and less snug and now sometimes when I pull the gun out of my pocket the holster comes out with it.

What can I do to solve this problem? I assume this must be a common problem that other people have had to deal with.

A slightly loose fit should make drawing the gun easier. Does it have any projections or friction material to hold it in place or catch on your pocket?

Let me clarify something. When I say the holster is getting loose and less snug, I am referring to how the holster fits inside my pocket; not how the gun fits inside the holster. The gun still fits snug inside the holster which I consider to be a good thing.

There are no projections or friction material to hold the holster in place or catch it on my pocket. The holster stays in place because it is (or was) a snug fit inside my pocket. I tried putting a piece of double sided tape on the holster, but it did not stick to my pocket very well and didn't work.

The outside of the holster has gotten slicker & polished from use.
And apparently, the holster is still too tight for a pocket holster.
It's not like a gun can fall out of the holster while it is still in your pants!

I'd suggest a couple of things.

Spray the inside of the holster with silicone spray to make the gun come out easier.
Just don't get any over-spray on the outside!!

And you could consider sewing a strip of suede leather around the outside top edge to grab your pocket better.

Sounds like you need to make the holster grip the inside of your pants pocket. You can do this a number of ways without having to sew velcro into the pockets of all your pants. There is a spray adhesive (can't remember the name of it) that comes out of the can like glue but dries tacky, not sticky. You could coat the outside of the holster with something like that but it will tend to collect lint. You could also rough up the surface of the leather with a stiff brush, then spray it with hair spray to make it tacky.

The tighter the gun fits into the holster, the more friction is needed to hold the holster in place when you draw the gun. I would also work on loosening up the gun-to-holster friction. Lots of ways to do that.

For a pocket pistol holster, you don't want the same retention as a belt holster. It's purpose is really just to keep the pistol in an upright position and cover the trigger. It should allow the pistol to slide out with less effort than it takes to remove the holster.

Exactly the reason I prefer Mika pocket holsters. Been using the same holster for years and it still works the same, time after time.
