Hi,

I just received my Smith & Wesson 642 snub nose 38 and am in the market for a good (but reasonable) pocket holster. The FFL holder that received the gun for me had an Uncle Mikes pocket holster that I tried but you could see the butt of the handle in my pocket. It just did not set deep enough for good concealment. Is this a problem with most pocket holsters?

I seem to read a lot of good comments about the Mika and DeSantis Nemesis. Will either of these holsters let the gun ride deeper in the pocket than the Uncle Mikes?

Also, I have read comments where people say the DeSantis will let the gun drop out of the holster when sitting. Is this true?

Thanks to everyone who replies.

I have a nemesis, that I like a lot. I hear good things about mika also. Ive never tried a uncle mikes, but my 642 has never fallen out of my nemesis though.

Is it possible that your pants have shallow pockets ? Seriously, some pockets are deeper than others.
I have a Mika for my 642 and like it a lot.
I have a Nemisis for my LCP and I like it fine for that gun. It's not as sturdy as the Mika though.

I have a model 38 and use the Uncle Mikes holster. I have the same issue with some jeans, but it works fine in almost all my pants.

I prefer Mika's pocket holster, but also have an Uncle Mikes and a Nemesis. To answer your question, the Nemesis is open-bottomed and does let the gun ride just a bit lower in the pocket.

I have both the Uncle Mikes, and the Mika. One or the other will work well in most pockets. The Uncle Mike's sits a touch deeper that the Mika. Some pants pockets are just cut too shallow or the pocket opening is cut at too much of an angle where the grips can poke out.

Like most any form of concealed carry, you'll just have to adapt your dress to accommodate the gun. If your pants pockets don't accommodate the gun, then you'll need different pants or a different gun. Not sure that the small fraction of an inch that the Nemisis would gain you, will solve your problem.

Do the grips poke out with no holster ? If so, then no pocket holster is going to be able to cure that problem.
