I also handled a BodyGuard this past weekend......I really liked the built in laser and the size of the piece. The trigger was quite heavy but I was impressed with how easy it was the keep the laser on target while snapping it. I still consider the Keltec P3at the best carry gun of the micro .380s but wouldn't mind adding a Bodyguard to the collection

No, remember he is a revolver guy....

I like the DB 380, don't really see that much to differentiate a LCP from P3AT, haven't got to fondle a S&W bodygaurd or a Kahr.

I would avoid the Kel-Tec. Don't have much experience with the other pocket-sized .380s as I went to a S&W 442 .38 SPL.

I have seen a ton of lightly used Bersas for sale lately. My guess would be that their owners sold them during the .380 ammo craze/crisis and that they're not as desirable as the micro-compact pocket .380s. At $200 or so, they get my vote for the best value.
Why would you avoid the kel-Tec?

Why avoid the P3AT? It's not because I'm a "revolver guy." I own both revolvers and semi-autos, and actually shoot better with the autos in most cases.

I owned a P3AT that had failure to extract problems right out of the box. At least once every mag or two, the extractor would skip off the rim of the fired cartridge, leaving the empty case in the chamber, while the slide retracted fully, picked up a new cartridge, and slammed the nose of the new cartridge into the fired case which was still in the chamber. The P3AT is not a fun gun to clear a double feed from--it is small, the slide is under a lot of spring tension, and there is no slide lock. Basically, if that ever happened when you needed the gun you'd be SOL.

I sent it back to the factory and they returned it without fixing the problem. I fired 200 rounds through it total (4 50 round boxes from different American manufacturers) and it happened just about every mag so it was not a fluke, ammo problem, or one-time occurance.

Now don't get me wrong, I respect Kel-Tec for being an American-made company and I think they produce some of the most innovative firearms on the market. But after my previous experience with the P3AT and similar results with 2 Sub 2000 rifles, I am staying away from anything they make until another company copies the design and comes out with one that works (like the LCP). I seem to remember a poll on THR not long ago where only 63% or so of Kel-Tec owners had not experienced problems with their guns.

I really liked the size of the P3AT and considered an LCP as a replacement, but after selling the gun at a loss and spending a lot on .380 ammo, I decided a safer bet would be the S&W J frame--a more proven design.

IMO the only good thing about the Kel-Tec P3AT is that it made other companies start producing some quality .380 pistols of comparable size. There are now offerings from Kahr, Magnum Research (owned by Kahr), Taurus, Ruger, and S&W.

Sorry my camera is on the fritz at the moment. But, I can tell you that I love my little lcp. She is 100% reliable and very accurate. I am also considering getting the diamond back db380 since it has better sights. I'll wait another year or so to make sure all the kinks have been worked out though.

At nearly 50 and with considerable back pain on most days.

The heaviest can I can carry is my delightful Micro .380.

Much flatter and reloads faster than my old Ruger LCR.

Custom grips by Dennis Marschal. I have one set for sale and
two sets for myself.

I will be buying the Blued MDE .380 sometime this next year.

Holster is my Don Hume, only because HIGH NOON doesn't make
a belt holster.

Pocket carry goes to the HN Pocket Grabber in horsehide.

The workmanship is top notch for the $350 ish I paid for the gun NIB.

Recoil is minimal, even for me. Others who have shot it had no problems.

Great accuracy up close and personal.
