point blank body armor

does anyone know what level of protection (bullet ,not frag.) the point blank brand body armor that is current US Army issue has ( if any ) with out the porcelin plates? im a National Guard instructor and i have a class to give on body armor next month and i cant find any good info on ballistics for the vest.

My understanding, is that while not NIJ certified, it's comparble to a 3A.

When I was issued mine I was told IIIa with the soft ballistic liners, IV with the SAPI plates.

You can also duck tape several together for extra protection, remember?

It (the SAPI plates) WILL stop 7.62.

LTG Caldwell refers to it in a speech he made to my old unit at our post deployment ball:

Sorry I couldn't find any hard data that you can cite, but LTG Caldwell speaks the truth and is a hard man to argue with.
