Police deny giving special treatment to deputy's son

If someone has been smoking pot, you don't have to stick your head into the car to smell it.

IMO, it was special treatment. The 10 year rule is likely a reason, but it is special treatment.

The bad thing is, the kid will likely continue his bad behavior because his Dad bails him out all the time. He never learns the small lessons so eventually he will have to learn a big and severe lesson. All because his loving Dad is trying to protect him.

3 prison escapees in IL/son of a Corrections Captain

Do any other members recall the incident in IL where the 3 prisoners escaped? One of the inmates had his father(a Captain) working at the SAME corrections center, ! ***? Can't the corrections supervisors read? Don't they care about that at all? If I lived in that area(Chicago IL) I would be hot! :cuss:

Police connections are everywhere. It is really frustrating dealing with the fact that if you are not connected you will be treated to the full extent of the law.

This is not just with police connections but any sort of political connection. I am getting tired of it myself.

Maybe I'm stuck in my own little "freedomland" but here's my take. Drug possession should not be a crime, either should drug use or selling or dealing. Having a firearm without .govs' permission should be rewarded, not punished.

Amazing how everyone wants freedom for themselves but is okay with throwing strangers in the gulag who weren't hurting anybody.

If possession of a handgun by someone under 21 is legal under FL law then I stand partially corrected. The drugs should still have landed the guy in jail. I'm all for decriminalization, but the fact of the matter is that anyone else WOULD have gone to jail. I still say preferential treatment...

I agree with you Snakeeater. But what do you think would happen if that were you instead of a cops kid? That is what we are making a stink about. I would be willing to bet that had it been you or I we would have been in jail.

Well, he was finally charged. Now the question is, will they go after the 10-20-life for possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony? 10 years mandatory for possession.

Like I said, I hope not. I am totally against the 10-20-life law because of situations just like this where the accused had no intent with the firearm and the crime wasn't related to the firearm but will be punished because of a basic 'Right' to self-defense of all americans.

The Judge should have the say on the punishment.
