Every once in a while I check the weapons section of Police Magazine out to see what's new or to get a feel of my fellow LEO's opinions. I stumbled on this survey too late to participate, but I was surprised by the results.

Article explaining the survey: http://www.policemag.com/channel/pa...ort-concealed-carry-romney-for-president.aspx

Survey result charts: http://www.policemag.com/photogalle...gun-control-active-shooters-the-election.aspx

Out of 19,000 subsribers, some 2000+ took part in the survey and it seemed overwhelmingly in support of multiple gun issues such as CCW and "assault weapons" (though "AW's" had a slight down tick in support). The comment section of the article however was a little more dissapointing, but overall I was pleased to see those that participated were mostly pro 2A. I realize it wasn't a very scientific poll, but pleased none-the-less.

Just wanted to share my find.

That is some pretty encouraging numbers. The only surprise to me was the question about bulk ammo buys being so close among other LEOs. Having lived in the north and the south, I can say that attitudes about guns widely change based on location. While some state LEO in the north like VT, CT, and NH are very supportive of CCW. If you went to the urban areas of Mass or NY or NJ you could say you own a firearm and get looked at as a terrible human being who clubs kittens by LEO and civilians.

Yeah. I'm surprised too. Most of the LEO I meet (with the shaven heads) think they are the only ones who should be allowed to have firearms.

I'd forgotten about the results about large quantities of ammo purchases. I was dissapointed by that to. I don't think the general public has a clue how much bulk buys a lot of people do. I've been buying in bulk but can't afford to buy more than 1000 rounds at a time. I've probably got 3000-4000 rounds of various calibers, yet I'm no where near where I'd like to be.

What's the point of sending an ATF agent to your door when you order "bulk" ammo (they decide what bulk means) when itsnit illegal in the first place?

Suki... ignoror ubi do inclusatum consensum, sed istam epistulam recipet tantos populos!

I'm surprised how generally progun the surveyed officers were.

It would really help if there was a clear definition of what bulk sizes to look for. The Colorado shooter ordered 6000 rounds of various calibers. That is a drop in the bucket for a high volume low caliber shooter. Anyone can easily go into Wal-Mart and get 2 500 round bricks of .22LR which counts as high volume according to the anti-gun senators. Online stores define bulk as weight limits which is easy to reach considering how heavy ammo is. Bulk to me is when you need a forklift.

Yeah. I'm surprised too. Most of the LEO I meet (with the shaven heads) think they are the only ones who should be allowed to have firearms.

Black gloves... don't forget the black gloves.:uhoh:

Our Sherriff is anti constitutional carry. There is "May Issue" and "Shall Issue." Unless you're a celebrity or elected official San Diego County is "Ha ha fat chance" of issue.

I suspect most subscribers are firearm enthusiasts, which explains the positive numbers. What percentage of LEOs subscribe?

That's 19,000 subscribers from a universe of almost 600,000 sworn LEOs. Not including campus, Fed
