the breech bolt on my 870 express is showing considerable wearing from metal to metal contact. Almost all of the blueing has worn off.
I would like just polish the rest off so that it looks a lot like a shiny silver wingmaster breech bolt. How do I go about doing this with out damaging the metal?

The bolts in Wingmaster guns are plated, not just polished steel. I'm not sure exactly what the finish on "black" bolts consists of, or how best to renew it. I suppose cold blue would work to darken it and offer some protection from corrosion, if you wanted to go that route. Removing all the finish by polishing the metal further might expose the bolt to rusting if you weren't really careful to maintain it regularly. You could always swap it for a polished bolt if you really wanted it shiny for good, I suppose...
