polishing stainless steel handgun?

What is the best way to polish a stainless steel handgun?Which polish,by hand or use dremel?Any be especially careful about this or that ???How long will it take for a model 60?Should I start on cylinder first?I have a 60-9 with serial number etched on left side of frame and s$w on right side of barrel.Will they disappear?Serial is still inside ,so not worried about that.I would like a mirror finish if possible.Thanks for your help.....

You'll be sorry if you put a high polish on a stainless gun.

Stainless is softer than the typical high-polish finishes like nickel and chrome. It practically GROWS tiny scratches in front of your eyes.

When you get done polishing your stainless steel shootin' iron, send it to the good folks at http://www.magnaport.com for bead blasting. Polishing it will take a few hours; keeping it polished will take forever and a Sunday afternoon.
