More than one.
The cumulative total of all third party candidates in the 2000 election was:
Who cares? The national popular vote is not terribly important. I think what you're looking for is the number of states that Gore won due to third-party votes, and that's very difficult to tell. There were five states where Nader was on the ballot and didn't get more votes than all other 3rd party candidates combined: Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Wyoming. Bush still won all five of those states by a significant margin.

How many States were above that 3.75% average national third-party vote? 26.

Rather than convincing Libertarians not to vote for Badnarik, it's probably more productive to convince Democrats to vote for Cobb or Nader, if you live in a swing state.

Thank you for the PM Bartholomew. You make a convincing argument without making an argument at all.:)

All your stats have the solid ring of truth.

I'll have to admit I'm amazed the Greens did as well as that if I ever heard the number back in the day.
As scary as the Dems are I think the Greens may be scarier!

Excellent point, Bartholemew.

I believe gun owners for Kerry are too quick to forget the Democratic party's long history on gun control. And are too quick to dismiss the solid gains the Republicans have won on gun control. Are are too quick to focus solely on W's expressed willingness to sign an extension of the AWB.

I would also like to point out the great vitory the Republicans brought in the UN in the early days of the Bush presidency.

You may recall the UN Council on Small Arms had really wanted to issue a statement recommending a ban on private ownership of small arms. The US delegate, newly appointed by the Bush administration, would have none of that. The final statement issued was limited to deploring gun violence.

I consider that a huge victory. A statement by the UN recommending a ban on private ownership of small arms would be huge ammunition for gun banners worldwide, and particularly the well-known Democratic gun banners in the US. The Bush administration denied them that.
