Greetings, I have a modified vent rib barrel from an old remington 1100 with a "multy-choke" adjustable choke on it and the choke is not on straight, doesnt shoot strait, is there any way to straigten it out or remvoe it all together? any suggestions would be appreciated.

In my experience most are not. With a non-vented barrel the simple solution is to bend the barrel. A vent rib however usually will not cooperate. I can not speak to your priorities but given the value of an 1100 in my area, I would be inclined to sell out and start over. Or, surf the auction sites for a used barrel in a desireable choke and shorten the existing barrel either for HD or other use. A quick look at Gunbroker indicates that shopping would produce a barrel for $100-120++.

Polycokes and similar seem to function to purpose but alignment etc. make them unattractive and the general PITA you are experiencing.

Good Luck.

Polychokes work great if they're installed properly, but they're ugly and thus unpopular with the engraved receiver crowd. You probably need a Polychoke wrench to remove it. Google it and you'll find what you need.
