I am certain someone has done this. I installed a scope on my S&W629 this spring, and with my old eyes, I can shoot much better. So I now want to put a scope on my Taurus 24/7. If it had a metal rail, I would just go ahead, and buy a mount, and put it on. But I am not sure how well a polymer rail will hold up to recoil with a scope hanging off from it. Also, I have noticed they make mounts with one side (left) or both sides. Obviously, the 2 sided mount would be stronger, IF my ejection port will clear a 2 sided mount. If anyone has run a single sided mount, please chime in. I would like to know how they work out. If they are nice and solid, or if the flex and wiggle like a bowl of Jello. I already have a scope, that I picked up from a friend, who upgraded. I will only be using this for informal target practice. But I still do not want a wobbly mount.

I'm not sure about the mounting solutions for your Taurus, but if looking for an excuse to purchase a new gun, several companies now offer optics ready pistols for various sighting devices. An example would be S&W M&P CORE series. Sounds like perhaps that would be right up your alley.

I use a Carver Hunter mount on my Glocks, when I want to mount a scope. The only scope I use is a red dot.
