Problem with a scope mount

I recently purchased a scope mount from Browning for my Buck Mark so I could mount a Red Dot. The rail replaces the rear sights. The rail went on easily, but the front part seems to be slightly loose. I've tightened the screw pretty hard - and I don't want to put any more torque on it.

Anyone have any suggestions or ideas what could be causing this? I'm thinking of just junking it and replacing it with a Weigand scope mount. They are supposed to be pretty good. I bought the Browning on the assumption that it would be a be a good fit with their own gun. I may have been wrong about that.

Thanks for any help,

Jacob

My first guess would be the mounting screws are longer then the holes in the barrel are deep.

The solution is to cut the screws off so you can fully tighten them.

It's fairly common on any firearm scope mount, and one of the first things a gunsmith would check before putting the mount on.
