POSP scope- rookie question

Stupid question perhaps..
If the batteries go dead or the led bulb burns-out, is the scope useless or is the reticle still visible enough to be used?
I'd hate to put a tempermental scope on an ultra-reliable Saiga. Kinda defeats the purpose....

The reticle is etched into the glass so at most you will only lose the illumination feature. The reticle will still be visible in daylight.

It still works perfectly; you just won't be able to see the reticle in low light (which is the only time you would use the illumination feature).

I am a big fan of the POSP scopes (used to have a 4x24).

I have an older Valdada 4X24 version that had tritium etched reticle and no outside illuminator.
The tritium is long dead but the scope still works fine for day shooting.

Thanks, I figured that was the case. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't some sort of situation like a "red dot" where if the batteries go, the dot goes.
