Hi, I have a Sig P250 I like a lot, but it's DAO. Does anyone know if the gun can be converted to DA/SA? (first shot DA and subsequent shots SA)

Thanks!

Could they? I'm sure.

Would they? Allmost certainly not. That pistol is destined as DAO, and I can't see Sig redesigning and remaking it for you.

If you can machine, and heat treat, you could probably do it. I'd imagine you'd need a new hammer with SA hooks, and some careful measuring to ensure the sear and trigger bar work with both sets of hammer hooks.

You could also look at some other Sigs, as most of them are DA/SA out of the box.

A good custom smith can do just about anything, if you have the money to pay for it. But this would not be a practical conversion - you could buy a brand new Sig that met all of your needs for far less than it would cost to redesign and hand-build your P250.

If your P250 is a subcompact model, look at the Sig P224. If it's a compact, look at the P228. If it's a full sized, the P2022 is pretty close, and of course there are several other options as well.

So just for fun, I pulled up a P250 Drawing.

I'm going to change my answer to "no". A P250 doesn't have a sear, The hammer drops off the trigger bar directly at the end of the trigger stroke. It also doesn't have a disconector (Probably because the hammer follows the slide and there's a firing pin safety.)

So you'd need a completely redesigned hammer, A single action sear, some way to fit that sear into the frame, probably a disconnect of some kind, depending on how that safety lever actually works. (Sig does it in their trigger bar/reset in the factory SA/DA models, but I can't tell from the drawing if the 250 is set up that way) Probably a custom trigger bar. Heaven help you if you want to scab some kind of decocker in there. I'm honestly not sure there's enough room without gutting the frame and starting over. But it ain't going to happen.

I would suggest looking for a classic P series.

The P22X series can be had in DAO, a variant they call DAK and DA/SA and, within limits, converted back and forth. Because the DAO P250 has no DA/SA counterpart, any such conversion, if it could be done at all, would have to be totally designed and engineered from scratch. With no demand, nobody is going to do it.

No, the 250 is what it is, DAO, and that's it. It's younger twin, the 320 is striker fired and is also DAO.

If you want a polymer SIG in DA/SA, the one you want is the 2022. It's as close to a 229 in polymer as you can get, and has been called "SIG's best kept secret".

Good advice above on purchasing the 2022.

The 250 was designed from the outset to only be DAO, without provision to be converted to DA/SA. The engineering required to make it DA/SA would make it a completely different animal.

FWIW, the DA trigger stroke on every 250 I've shot...about 3...has been outstanding. Where is was a bit lacking is in accuracy beyond 25 yards
